Mangaluru, May 9: In a serious road accident between a lorry and bike at Thokkottu junction on Monday evening, May 9, the bike rider had a miraculous escape even though his bike got stuck under the lorry.

Survivor Adarsh

Bike rider Adarsh (28) from Chembugudde was going on his bike from Thokkottu to Chembugudde. When he was turning his bike near the curve from national highway to state highway, the lorry that was driven on the same way ran over the bike. During the process, Adarsh jumped from the bike and escaped.

The bike that came under the front wheel of the lorry has been completely damaged.

The negligence of the lorry driver is the cause of the accident. The way the bike rider jumped was like in films, said some onlookers.

The accident threw traffic in disarray for some minutes. Ullal police and locals pulled the bike from under the lorry and made way for traffic.

The junction at Thokkottu bifurcating to Derlakatte is chocked with traffic moving towards Kerala, Mangalore University etc.and the flyover half constructed. Bumper to Bumper traffic with no one to guide those using the road is the cause for such accidents. Bikes zoom between four wheelers going zig zag within the limited space between two four wheeler vehicles. No wonder such accidents occur. Someone needs to take cognisance of this traffic mess.

The way these heavy vehicle drivers drive on road only God can save a human life. We are kind of living out of mercy of buses and lorries. I saw one 407 zipping at such a high speed on a curve in front of Suzlon in nandikoor . Such a unstable vehicle is Tata 407 and at that speed on a curve it is left to ones imagination. This is a quality and mind set of our drivers ? Vehicle license la are given to these idiots who are on suicide mission.
