Mangaluru, May 11: Long awaited and widely discussed rains have reached Mangaluru city at last. Though it cannot be called as even moderate rains, those showers received on Wednesday late evening looked like indeed blessing from heaven.
It rained in almost all parts of city. Derebail, Yeyyadi, Bondel, Bejai, Hampanakatta and most parts of Mangaluru saw water pouring down from above.
Light lightening and thunders are being witnessed throughout city. The temperature has come down slightly.
Mangaluru had not received any pre-monsoon showers this year. The rainfall so far has a deficit of 90% compared to the previous years.

It rained only for half an hour. Because of the high velocity wind the clouds were driven fast and far away.

It was just a 15 min drizzle occurring after an intense bout of heat! Such drizzls are counterproductive in reducing the heat as immediately after some hours the heat and humidity soars to newer highs as is being experienced today!! Already we are 90% below average till date! Corporation water is totally dry! Tanker water too is difficult to get even at exorbitant rates, tanker cartel will quote exorbitant rates further on!!IT LOOKS SO FOOLISH THAT PEOPLE ARE BRINGING GOD IN BETWEEN WHEN SUCH A SITUATION HAS ARISEN BECAUSE OF MAN'S GREED AND DISRESPECT FOR MOTHER NATURE (GOD)!! HOW MUCH OF ABUSE CAN SHE TOLERATE?? MOTHER NATURE IS ALL INCLUSIVE, IT CANNOT BE EXCLUSIVE!! WITH RAIN OR SHINE, IT TREATS ALL ITS CREATION AS EQUAL! IT NEVER DISCRIMINATES BETWEEN GOOD OR BAD, WHICH IS ALL OUR PERCEPTION!!DIGGING OF BOREWELL SHOULD BE STRICTLY REGULATED, NEW BUILDING PERMISSION SHOULD BE MADE VERY STRINGENT OR ELSE THIS PLACE IS ON THE BRINK OF A BIG WATER CRISIS IN THE COMING YEARS, I MIGHT BE SOUNDING ULTRA PESSIMISTIC, BUT THIS IS BOUND TO HAPPEN IF MEASURES ARE NOT TAKEN NOW!!THIS IS THE TIME OF THE TANKER CARTEL TO LAUGH THEIR WAY TO THE BANK, THEY ALSO MIGHT BE PRAYING TO THEIR FAVORITE GOD'S TO HAVE BUMPER PROFITS!!PRAISE MOTHER NATURE!!!!
Then what's the situation is like right now in m'lore city? If Corporation water is totally dry and hard to get tanker water and too high priced. What other options there ?
NO option than to pay the rates demanded by tanker cartel, that too they cheat by short supplying less water, And nobody knows the source of water, if u want to live, buy it or DIE!
shower have brought great relief but what about those staying in flats (68 flats) are charged Rs.1300 for taker water eg 1300*68=88400 is this a relief I think authorities Lobo Khader should look into to see whats happening in MANGALUR.

What has God got to do with this? stop being ignorant! We people have caused global warming from uncontrolled emission of greenhouse gases and this is a direct result of that AND of our uncontrolled "development" activities. It is only bound to get worse.Unless we realize WE are the cause, how will WE correct it? Earth does not need our help, it is WE who need our help to live on Earth!The first step is to educate people OR we can all pray that GOD will save us while we continue destroying our Earth!!!

It's time the people of Mangalore & the MCC wake up & take up water recharge & water harvesting seriously on war footing...& try to save every of water to avoid future water crisis. MCC should educate the public by roping in the water warriors of India who are doing an amazing job in various parts of India...

Well, atlast God listened our prayers for rain. But still rains are not sufficient. Though rains have come in Ghat sections it is not known whether th water level in vented dam raised or not. We are curious to know about this as for our survival drinking water is necessary.
Good news.This will surely help the city to come out of the serious problem of water scarcity. Let us hope for the best
God has really blessed with pre-monsoon shower. Thanks God for your mercy, so that all human being can rejoice and get rid of drought. What about our ministers? They too are rejoicing, as the money allotted to drought hit states can simply disappear from the PM relief fund account to their personal account. And what they did all this while except the DC who toured each and every location to arrange the basic necessity of life which is drinking water, while rest of the MP's & MLA's gone into hiding or ribbon cutting. Why are electing such ministers?
Mohith,what about thousands of people around the world today, who will suffering or dying because of famine, hunger etc. Who is going to save them. what i want to say is that our beliefs tend to be self centered.
I think this is the right time to make aware of the public about rain harvesting.
