Bengaluru, May 12: Criminal investigation department of the state has now gathered enough evidence to prove that pre university (PU) question paper leakage had originally happened at the sub-treasury at Hangal taluk in Haveri district. The department is in the process of taking into custody a clerk of the sub-treasury in this connection.
Kumaraswamy alias Kiran
The accused person, identified as Kumaraswamy alias Kiran (28), who has emerged now as the main accused in the case, happens to be the nephew of Shivakumaraiah alias Shivakumara Swamy, who has been nick-named 'Question Paper King'. Kiran is the son of Shivakumaraiah's brother.
Acting on the information the police collected during the interrogation of Kiran, the team led by superintendent of police, Sirigowri, acted swiftly and arrested Santosh Parashuram Agasi, second grade assistant of the sub-treasury at Hangal. This information was given by CID director general of police, Kishore Chandra, addressing a press conference held at the central office of CID on Wednesday May 11. He said that during the questioning, Kiran claimed that he drew support from Santosh Parashuram in question paper leak. He added that during preliminary questioning, he gave some information including the question paper leakage.
A team of 40 police officials led by superintendents of police, Sirigowri, and Yada Martin, had found Kiran at a spot where he had gone into hiding near Tumakuru.
Kiran belongs to Teragaon village in Haliyala taluk of Uttara Kannada district. In the recent past, there was a fight between him and his relatives over property issue, and he had been admitted into hospital after getting injured, Kishore Chandra said, adding that tight police vigil has been arranged at the hospital premises, and that he would be taken into custody as soon as he recovers.
The CID investigation has also brought out information that as per an agreement entered into by Kiran with Santosh, Rs 3 lac had changed hands at the rate of Rs 1.5 lac per chemistry question paper including re-examination.
