Mangaluru: Murder conspiracy - CCB police arrest three, seize weapons

Mangaluru, May 13: Policemen belonging to the city crime branch (CCB) here have arrested three persons and confiscated two swords, dagger, and a Maruti Omni van from their possession.

The arrests were made by a team led by CCB inspector, Valentine D'Souza and staff on the evening of Wednesday May 11 from near Swaraj Maidan, Moodbidri.

CCB inspector, Valentine D'Souza, and other personnel got to know on Wednesday evening that a few persons, who had been earlier accused in cases pertaining to murder attempt and assault cases, had gathered together in a Maruti Omni vehicle near Moodbidri Swaraj Maidan, and conspiring to execute some evil plan. The team then rushed to the spot and took into custody Deppuniguthu Nataraj alias Natu (25), Raviraj (29) from Devinagara Kunjathbail, and Subhash (23) from Kavoor Jyotinagara.

Two swords, a dagger, three cellphones, and Maruti Omni van were confiscated from the possession of the arrested persons.

The policemen said that all the three arrested persons have criminal backgrounds. Nataraj was named in a murder attempt case filed in Bunder police station, while Raviraj had taken part in two cases of assault registered in Kavoor police station limits. Subhash too was named in a murder attempt case in Panambur police station. The accused were handed over to Moodbidri police station for further action.

The operation was conducted under the orders of city police commissioner, M Chandra Sekhar, and deputy police commissioner, K M Shantaraju.
