Hassan, May 15: In an interesting incident which occurred in the town recently, a man committed suicide. In the death note he had left behind, he had confessed that he had fallen in love with a woman after coming into contact with her through WhatsApp and conversing with her over cellphone, but was frustrated as her brother forcibly got her married to an engineer from Bengaluru. He had said that he and the love of his life, Anu, had not yet come face to face.

Pension Mohalla policemen here, who began investigation by hitting the trail of mobile phone conversations, got to know on Friday during questioning, that the estranged wife of the deceased's brother was the one who had got in contact with her brother-in-law in the guise of a girl named 'Anu'. Instead of her photo, she had sent the photo of a beautiful girl to him over WhatsApp.

The sister-in-law of the victim, Raghavendra, had separated from his elder brother, and has been living in a village in the taluk with her two children. It is said that she used to snare a number of men through her cellphone in the web of love by faking herself and making them believe she w as in deep love with them. ;

She told the police that her husband, Ramachandra, who is the elder brother of Raghavendra, had driven her out of his home after selling off her gold and other valuables. She said when she approached her father-in-law for assistance, he too expressed helplessness. Both her parents had died in accident, and she did not have any siblings to fallback on. She stated that to settle scores with her husband's family, she acted like a girl in love with her brother-in-law.

"As Raghavendra repeatedly expressed the desire to have sexual contact with me, I told him in course of time that I had been forcibly married off to another person," she stated. She had visited the family of her estranged husband after Raghavendra died. It has transpired that she also ensured that a rumour about Raghavendra's lover having committed suicide at Bengaluru was circulated on the same day her brother-in-law died.
