Mangaluru: Undertrial dies at hospital, pancreatitis problem cited

Mangaluru, May 16: A prisoner from Mangaluru jail died at Wenlock hospital on Sunday, May 15 midnight.

The person is identified as K Shekar, a resident of Koila village near, Puttur. He was arrested on charges of rape at Kadaba police station limits under POSCO act of 2012.

It is said that Shekar fell ill on May 13 and was rushed to the Wenlock hospital and got admitted to the jail ward there. He was shifted to the ICU as his health condition started deteriorating.

Shekar was pronounced dead at around the midnight of May 15.

Hospital authorities confirmed the death of K Shekar and said the cause was severe pancreatitis.
