Mangaluru, May 17: B S Ranjan, who belongs to a family hailing from Aroor in Udupi district, and who happens to be a student of Poorna Praja group of educational institutions at Bhadravathi in Shivamogga district, has created history by scoring 625 out of 625 marks in this year's SSLC examination. He happens to be the first ever student from the state to score 100 percent marks in SSLC examination.

Ranjan S

Ranjan is the son of B S Shankaranarayana, a dealer in tiles, and his wife, Triveni. He happens to be a student of this institution right from nursery class.He never attended any tuitions, but made it a point to attend the school on all days and read three hours each in the mornings and evenings. He is grateful to his teachers who conducted special classes after school hours. His elder sister, Rachana, too was a student of this institution and had excelled in SSLC examination a few years ago.

State primary and secondary education minister, Kimmane Ratnakar, has reasons to be proud as Ranjan belongs to his home district.

Ranjan's father says that he had advised Ranjan to enroll for tuition classes but Ranjan was disinterested. He said that the boy used to watch cricket matches on television when free. Ranjan himself thought he could be getting around 620 marks. He plans to pursue medical education.

Rural and Udupi districts with a pass percentage of 88,.01 percent, which is a vast improvement over the eigtth place it had secured last year.

Sushruth U K

Sushruth U K, a student of Laila St Mary's English Medium School, has secured second rank in the state with 624 marks. He happens to be the son of Kishore Kumar U V, first grade clerk of the block education officer, Bantwal, and Surekha, working as teacher in Guruvayanakere government high school. Sushruth aims at completing medical education and also pursue the dream of becoming an IAS officer. Sushurth has tremendous interest in fine arts and has won several prizes in competitions. He is thankful to his school teachers and mother for the encouragement extended to him.

Ajay K P, a student of Canara high school (main) in the city has scored 622 marks and brought laurels to his school. He is the son of K P Prakashchandra, manager in Kerala State Road Transport Corporation and Shyla K, assistant lecturer in Balmatta first grade college. He wants to become an IAS officer.

Sohan Kotian, student of St Aloysius PU College also has got 622 marks in SSLC examination. He says that studying lessons on the same day and giving prominence to tough subjects helped him to succeed. He is the son of Ashok Kotian, employed in a private firm, and Deepa Ashok. He wants to become an aeronautical engineer.

Shashank S, student of Canara high school, Urwa here, has scored 622 marks in SSLC. His dream is to become a mechanical engineer. He is happy that his efforts have yielded fruits. He is from a Kadaba-based family of Shivaprasad S, an accountant by profession, and Sunitha S.

The district administration and the department of public instruction to bring the district back to the top three places has yielded fruits. Out of 30,666 students from the studentincluding 15,291 boys and 15,375 girls who appeared for the examination, 26,988 students comprising 12,836 boys and 14,152 girls have passed the SSLC examination.
