Mangaluru: DC warns action against those who force bandh on Thursday

Daijiworld Media Network-Mangaluru (EC)

Mangaluru, May 18: The deputy commissioner A B Ibrahim has said through a circular that the district administration will take strict action against those who force closure of shops and inconvenience people by any other means during the proposed bandh on Thursday May 19.

"Yettinahole project is meant to supply drinking water in Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Ramanagara, Bengaluru rural and other districts. A meeting was arranged in the Vidhana Soudha, Bengaluru on October 19 to discuss the pros and cons of the project. As the activists and participants requested to postpone the meeting, it was postponed. The chief minister, during his visit to the Dakshina Kannada district on April 21, had assured that a meeting will be held about it soon," the communication adds.

"As I came to know through the media that a bandh will be held on May 19 opposing the project, a meeting of the activists and leaders was called on May 17 and they were requested to give up the bandh. They have assured that the proposed bandh is voluntary and peaceful and have refused to give it up. The activists have assured that they will not force anybody to close shops or establishments. We will take strict action against those who force closure of shops and inconvenience people by any other means." he has stated in the circular.

Mangalore requires a young direct IAS Deputy Commissioner who can stand up on his spine to act fearlessly, placing welfare of people always in the forefront. Conferred IAS has its own limitation while acting independently. Pre-conferment conduct will be a deciding factor on ion and post-conferment placement. The rest of the guessing is left to you!!!?

Dear DC, your view is genuine, What about us? Do you think we are happy by doing Bundh. When local administration fails to send a strong message to State about the consequence of the project, it's the responsibility of citizens to send the message by some means. We have only left with observing Bundh. Now when people take to street there is no guarantee the bundh has to be peaceful or not. Instead you as a representative of people of DK, send the message the CM and corrupt ministers on the top to stop the Yettinahole project. Read carefully, people might obey your request for the first time or second time. After that they don't care who you are and will do what they want to stop this project. Is it very difficult for the civil administration to send this strong message to the State CM. Rather than educating the local people how to observe bundh, why not you convince the CM to stop this project.

The D.C. may be correct in asserting that the bandh should not be forced on anybody. It is now for the people to decide what they want - whether they want water to drink or whether they are fine with the Yettinahole project. If they want water to drink, then they should voluntarily support the bandh and if they do not support the bandh, they will be hacking their legs with their own hands and in this case, they will have only themselves to blame. We do not get tired of telling the whole world that we are educated people and if we are really educated and interested in the well being of our children, without doubt we should voluntarily support the bandh and thwart the nefarious designs of the politicians. Remember, if the Yettinahole project is allowed to come up, we can forget about having sufficient water to drink in the coming years. The politicians are well aware that the people of our district are very weak and they do not oppose anything. That is why they have gone ahead with this project even after being fully conversant with the ill effects of this project. We are showing the world that anybody can walk over us and we will simply bend in front of them. My dear friends, come out of your comfort zone and prove that we are no pushovers. It is now or never. Remember we have to decide whether we are going to have water to drink or not. The future is in our hands. Support the bandh.

Absolutely right action by DC. If you force or with out force going for bandh is nonsense. The only benefit is many of us will suffer and some jobless people will loot to the maximum. There should not be any Bandh or any strikes. Just take them to area where non one hear their cry and treat them very well.....

Here is Mr. Ibrahim once again a person of courage and grit. He means what he says and says what he means. His main objective is to ensure justice to all concerned. Unfortunately his intentions are not understood by people.

It would good and fair to go by his assertions and help The Government to ensure that all have a fair deal

Dear D.C. If anybody forces to close any showrooms shut them inside the Jail relentlessly.

First starting from the leaders. Peaceful protest is acceptable.

Forcibly means their place is inside the jail.

Ibrahim kaaka you are DC. You may ask transfer where there is plenty of water. But where we have to go if no water. This year was hardest in decades. It will continue like this every year. Do you have guts then stop giving builder license to fill n construct in lakesbagri lands. Lakes ponds agri lands are main source of underground water where rain water seeps underground.

I hope DC understands well that bundh is aimed at sending a strong message to our politicians in order to scrap the Yettinahole Project. So we expect him to permit a peaceful bundh and to let the leaders in B’lore know what the Nethravati Rivers means to us.

Dear DC, Nothing will happen.Everything will be closed tomorrow including transportaion. We had seen before also u warned against forced bandh by activists and they succeeded all the time and this is nothing new for them.
Today no activists group cares for Law and order in India in any states.Police shows brutality only on poor who does't have political/financial support and this is the genuine truth all parts Of India.

I think DC should strongly put forward the case to the politicians in Bengaluru. He should remember that he is there to serve people and people do not want this Yettihole project. Government and politicians dont understand peace and they are responsible for tomorrow's bandh. What is the use in having a meeting when the project is in full swing!?. That should have been done before the commencement of project. When no one here wants this project, why should the government use force to implement the project!?
