Yettinahole project will be implemented at any cost - U T Khader

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, May 20: State health and family welfare minister, U T Khader, reiterated that Yettinahole project will be implemented in Toto irrespective of impediments it might encounter. At the same time, he said that the government will be undertaking an initiative to ward off apprehensions and doubts the people living in the coastal region have about the project.

Reacting to questions raised by media persons about the resistance the above project is facing in the coastal belt of Karnataka, Khader, who was at Vikasa Soudha on Thursday May 19, said that the people of the coastal districts will be convinced about the project before implementing it. He said that he has already requested the chief minister and irrigation minister to convene a meeting of people's representatives, anti-Yettinahole leaders, and religious leaders from the region to clear all misconceptions.

Khader pointed out that Yettinahole project had been approved by the legislative assembly and work is in progress. Therefore, he said, there is no question of suspending works at this point. At the same time, he agreed that efforts to clear the air of wrong impressions about the projects need to be made. He also concurred that effective alternative measures like executing Paschima Vahini project should be undertaken simultaneously.

This reminds me of Nagarjuna Project. BJP had opposed this project in the begining when T20 government was on and JDS was in power. But when yeddi government came in full majority Nagarjuna Project was completed in double speed without any opposition. And now we have a screwed up environment in the region around Nagarjuna power station

Looks like its about time that the people of Dakshina Kannada show these self-seeking politicians their place in the dustbin of history. What surprises me is the these so called representatives (they don't represent the people here)have turned their back on their own district for their own selfish purposes. What arrogance he has to talk like that! Time for peoples power to come to the fore. Time to show these popular (are they anymore?)politicians how unpopular they are here! Don't think about your religion when voting for these traitors, if you have no water in the future, only you will be suffering for it, no religion people will be of any help, and you would know who is actually responsible for your condition. Its time to act and stop Yettinahole project.

Having involved in a major scam, now the Health minister requires complete protection from CM. No option for him, but to support Yettinahole project even when the whole Mangalore is reeling under acute water shortage.Being an elected representative from estuerian constituency of Nethravathi, the river by any standard should have been his second mother. He do not mind to sell his mother to remain in power. He could have avoided this sort of controversial statements at least till onset of monsoon, as memory of people are very short. People of Mangalore and Ullal should give a befitting lesson to this traitor of motherland during next elections!!!?

No water in mlore region and people get it once in 4 days.. Its easy to comment sitting in Bahrain.. Use your brain. Natural resources should be conserved and not harmed.. No doubt
We should be patriot not selfish when there is a development plan . I know while staying at gold mine district Kolar .. It's hardly to get water during summer time ... Our Dakshina Kannada having lot of water reserves . But due to carelessness and unplanned action from our state government lot of water wasted . For example lake near swamila Padav Bajpe we call it sanko, where we used to clean vegetables lot of water poled out and unused like this there are so many lakes unused and our government is responsible for this . So please support for this plan . Let we all kannadigas unite and join hand for the development of our state

    Vivek,
In Bangalore there were hundreds of huge lakes before, now more than 95% of them are polluted with sewage and industrial waste and many of them have been encroached by builders due to builder politician nexus. Instead of getting that corrected why do these guys want to spend thousand's of crores in diverting a river and destroying the western ghats. Answer is very simple people in power want to make money with this project. Water has to flow to Arabian sea it is not a waste, else during high tide when the sea water rises, well water around the estuary turns excessively salty.

Government should take a relook into Yettinahole project to find as to whether the scheme will provide sufficient quantity of water to targeted regions. Karnataka Pollution Control Board last year already d that the proposed Yettinahole Project envisaged to meet drinking water needs of parched districts is unscientific. It further alleged that govt has given false details on availability of 24.3 TMC water after completion of project. Even annual rainfall estimate at yettinahole region is wrong.

People of both regions should not become scapegoats of vested interests and conspiracies of political leaders. It will solve neither our problems nor theirs. people of dakishna kannada take clear stand that the project should have technical based combined with scientific confirmation.

The leadership of D.K congress is now openly siding with their bosses in Bangalore. This should open the eyes of thousands of party followers who blindly provide a flat form to these leaders by receiving them in the
airport, attending to their meetings, inaguration etc. Now is the time to boycott the two timers totally.Just staying away
will have a telling impact. This applies to both Congress and BJP.
The leaders of both the parties
are trying to ride two boats at the same time. The views of MP
Kateel vs Yediyurappa and Rai vs
    Lobo are diametrically opposite.
However all are one happy family at the end of day. The next election is only two years away.
Since we can not vote either of the parties, the Karavali Hitara-
    kashana Samiti should provide a
third alternative by contesting the elections.

We read many time Water getting waste in Pipe line for many reasons, Lose connection, Breakage, Accidental Pipe Cut. Even while we walking on road or some other place, water flowing like River or Created Fountain How many people bothered about stopping such water in immediate or informed concerned dept to take care stopping water. It is very easy to doing Strike and blaming the Govt. Who is Govt...?, we only.

Instead of troubling the common man with meaningless strikes, forced shutdowns and roadblocks by paid thugs and hooligans, these great MLAs and our great MP should have faced the wrath of the people of DK. Inaction by Spineless policemen further encouraged these thugs.
If anything, protests should have been organised right in front of houses of MLAs and MP and their vehicular movement should have been blocked. These so called people's representatives have zero concern about problems faced by the people.
None of our MLAs from DK have the guts to stand up to Siddu. If they had, they would have resigned enmasse over this issue. Instead, last time when the strike wad organised i had seen one of these MLAs in his beige Innova being driven on the wrong side of the road envouraging these thugs and hooligans to block the highway.I feel ashamed for having voted for these guys and will be the happiest if congress gets 0 seats in DK next time, all thanks to the kartooth of our MLAs.
