Mangaluru: DK Congress observes Rajiv Gandhi death anniversary

Mangaluru, May 21: The death anniversary of Rajiv Gandhi was observed on Saturday, May 21 at the district Congress office here.

Floral tributes were offered to Rajiv Gandhi’s portrait by district in-charge minister Ramanath Rai, MLA J R Lobo and other Congress leaders.







Speaking on this occasion, Ramanath Rai said "Rajiv Gandhi was a humble person and a gentleman in the Congress party. He has contributed immensely to the development of the nation and had given a clean administration. Gandhi being a prime minister at a young age is a role model to all the youth. It is mainly through the efforts of Rajiv Gandhi that importance was given to women by making provisions for them in the local body elections. Panchayat Raj, development in IT and all others were his contributions. In his political life, he was closely associated with people and was helping them in their needs,"

"Unfortunately he was assassinated and it was the BJP government which was in power at that of time. Since they did not provide the necessary security which is to be given to any former prime minister this incident occurred. Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi both gave their lives for the nation. Subramanian Swamy is criticising the Nehru family. He has got no other work apart from this. The current BJP government has given UPCL to the Adanis and are planning to give New Mangaluru port also to the Adanis. If any reservation is given for the poor then a stay will be brought from the high court but no one talks about these big issues." he added.

Rai also urged all the party workers to unite and not to do anything which will embarrass the party.

MLA J R Lobo said that Rajiv Gandhi was a great leader who worked for the betterment of nation and party. "Taking everyone together and strengthening the party by uniting will be the right tribute for Rajiv Gandhi. This we need to do from grass root level."

MUDA chairman Kodijal Ibrahim, MLA Moideen Bava, congress leaders T K Sudhir, Ramananda Poojary, Vishwas Das and others were present.

    When Rajivji wanted computers in the government offices, the RSS BJP and CPIM/CPI revolted strongly saying people will lose jobs.

    Development stand without founding stone. Shri Vajapyeeji who contributed much to develop latest technology. A person who blast in pokhran. Earlier government didn't known where to blast even. Thinking og doing it in middle of Indian Ocean.

    Congress prepared the nuclear bomb and within 13 days NDA/BJP Vajapayee didn't prepare the Bomb.

    Now one more mile stone is going to be achieved by modiji by visiting Iran. As china already occupied pak by building seaport..which able to move quickly of it's products to other middle east region. It reduced about 15-20 days which is happening earlier. Now India will invest in Iranian port for target the same. Trade between us and afghanistan is not so smooth. Wants to pass thru pak region. Our products are off loaded here and taken further with pak trucks. If wants to cover central asean republics need safe passage. It's now trade war between china and india.
    Even after visit of modiji to Doha Qatar will benefit for us to pursue gas pipeline.
    After modiji become prime minister India conquering all over in all spheres.
    This step should be have taken 65 years ago...but we failed totally on all fronts.

    The sacrifice of two great leaders of Gandhi family belonging to the Congress will be remembered always.Today if India enjoys respect in the world, its because of this great Gandhi family right from Jawaharlal Nehru to Rahul Gandhi. When we got Independence people did not have one Cheddi to wear and now the Congress Party has made India land on the moon. Today if India is a technology and IT super power the credit goes to Rajiv Gandhi. Rajiv Gandhi sada amar rahe...
