Kola Blocks win Bhatkal T20 cricket league by defeating Patel Challengers

Bhatkal, May 22: Kola Blocks clinched a sensational one wicket victory in a thriller to win Bhatkal Cricket League 3 (BCL) final against Patel Challengers at Anfa Kola Ground, Bhatkal on Saturday, May 21.

The tournament was organised by Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation.

After winning the toss, Patel Challengers chose to bat and put a huge total of 179 in 20 overs. Superb innings From Shayan Marjan 16-ball 47 run helped Patel Challenger to post a competitive score.

 

Chasing the target of 180, Kola Blocks lost their 4 wickets in just 48 runs. Later Ubadah Barmawar hit a magnificent 90 not out off 41 balls with five boundaries and nine huge sixes and helped his side to chase the score with one wicket to spare.

Ubadah Barmawar blasted a six of the second ball of 19th over to take Kola Blocks home with one wicket to spare. Ubada Barmawar was declared man of the final match for his outstanding inning.

Iqbal (31/3) and Waqas (31/3) picked up three wickets each and kept alive the hope for Patel Challengers.

Brief Scores:

Patel Challengers: 179/5 in 20 overs (Shayan 47, Abdul Bari 38, Sarfaraz 33, Mihaj 24, Wafique 17/1).

Kola Blocks: 180/9 in 18.2 overs (Ubada Barmawar 90*, Iqbal 31/3, Waqas 31/3).

Harish Naik from Sarpankatta was also felicitated by Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation. He represented Bengaluru Bulls in Pro Kabaddi season 4.

Winners Kola blocks were awarded a trophy with Rs 99,999 cash prize, while Patel Challengers was awarded a trophy with Rs 66,666 cash prize.

A total of 12 teams had participated in the tournament. The tournament began on April 30.

Mohammed Wafique Damda Abu (Kola Blocks) was player of the tournament while Abdul Bari Khateeb (Patel Challengers) was declared as best batsman of the tournament. Abdul Gaffar Tonse (B XI) was the best bowler. The fair play award went to Amchi Team.

Chairman of Karnataka Spices Board and Majlise Islah Wo Tanzeem President Kazia Muzammil, Ex-President BMYF Moulana Ansar Madni, BMYF General Secretary Moulana Irfan SM Nadvi, Secretary Azizur Rahman Nadvi, Rumais Shabandri, Ismail Jubapu, Anjuman Secretary Javeed Hussain Armar, Abdus Sami Kola, Sports Director Naseef Khalifa, Rayees Ruknuddin, Ateet Kola, Ameer Basha, Umair Ruknuddin, Shamoon Haji Faqui, Faisal Armar, Mohammed Hussain, Bilal Qamri, Sami Medical and many others were present during the closing ceremony.

Bhatkal Muslim Youth Federation president Imtiyaz Udaywar presided over the function.
