Mangaluru, May 22: State health minister U T Khader refuted charges levelled against him in drug scam by former BBMP corporator N R Ramesh and said he is ready to face any probe and even ready to take political retirement if proven guilty.

Khader was speaking in a press meet at circuit house here on Sunday, May 22.

Drug scam

“The allegations made against me are vague and baseless. I refute all of them. I have not done anything wrong. This is a conspiracy to tarnish my image and that of health ministry. I have called this press meet to tell the people of the state as well as the district that do not believe in lies and confusion," Khader said.

“BBMP is an autonomous body. The papers N R Ramesh claims to have do not have any relationship with the health ministry as they belong to the BBMP. I have asked the mayor of Bengaluru to look into this issue. Ramesh says that 15 companies out of the 81 are fake and fictitious. Why cannot he name them? Which are they? Drug controller says that all companies are genuine," Khader added.

"Ramesh says sub-standard drugs are supplied. Why cannot he show some proof? He does not have any certificate to show that drugs were tested by him and that they are of poor quality. We presently follow all the guidelines in force from the state as well as union government including NRHM rules. In future, we are going to introduce quality guarantee system where anybody can complain about quality of drugs by phoning 104 toll free. I am ready to face any probe in this matter. I am ready to take political retirement if I am wrong in any way, ” Khader continued.

Janardhan Poojary’s statement

Reacting on the statement of senior leader B Janardhana Poojary who had criticised Khader on May 21, Khader said “I respect him. He has been with us for very long. He is an experienced leader. He knew my father and mother very well. I know him from childhood. I will listen to him.”

Yettinahole project

When asked about his pro –Yettinahole stance, he said “I am very sure that Yettinahole project will go on. Nobody can stop it. It was approved during BJP time and we are implementing it. We should more think about Paschima Vahini now than Yettinahole. If Poojary was the Member of Parliament, he could have stopped the Yettinahole project by influencing at the environment department at the central level. But now it is not possible at all.”

Gundia River is a second order tributary of the Netravathi river in the state of Karnataka in southern India. A proposal by the Government of Karnataka to build a hydroelectric project across the river and its tributary streams has generated controversy and opposition from environmentalists.

    River Basin[edit]
The Gundia river is a tributary of the Kumaradhara river which in turn flows into the Netravathi. The Gundia's headstreams include the Yettinahole, Kerihole, Hongadahalla and Bettakumbri streams and the river basin straddles the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Hassan.[1][2]

    Biodiversity[edit]
The Gundia river basin is part of the Western Ghats and is extremely rich in biodiversity. There are 239 plant species in the area including 119 tree species across several vegetation types including tropical evergreen and semi-evergreen forests, moist deciduous forests, scrub jungles, grasslands and riparian vegetation. The Kaginahara and Kempahole Reserve Forests lie in the Gundia basin.[3][4]

The Kempahole region is classified as one of the Important Bird Areas of India according to the Bombay Natural History Society and the International Bird Conservation Network.[4] Some of the rare and endemic species found in the Gundia basin include the Travancore flying squirrel, the Malabar pied hornbill, lion-tailed macaque, slender loris and the critically endangered frog species Indirana gundia which has been named after the former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Gundia, the only place where it is found.[4][5] The basin has tigers and is also part of an elephant corridor that links the Bisle reserve forest with the Mysore Elephant Reserve.[3]

    Gundia hyower project[edit]
Gundia hyower project is to be built by the Karnataka Power Corporation and aims to generate 400 MW of hyower in two phases. Besides the generation of electricity, the project also envisages the diversion.

Is POISON also one of the drugs that appear in the drug scam list?

Why I am asking is because some people on this forum vomit so much poison that I am sure it is collected and stored in various pharmacies.

Matter may relate to anybody - whether a saint like Mt Theresa or a politician like U T Khader.

Guys think other way around regarding the yetttinahole project Khaders statement is genuine not like our MLA'S and MP'S protesting with the people and government level supporting the project. Khader is not a Feku like Poojary but who cares people of DK like only Fekus. Our MP he knows very well. As Khader said it is wasting time by protesting. Honest in politics no value, That is why Khader is facing problem now. But truth will come one day. Don't worry Khader, you will come out from this kind of allegation. we know that you are clean.

looks some blind congi supporter. or else I didn't see anybody who is supporting some one supporting yethinahole project. how dare Mr. Khader to say that. he knows whole district want to stop this project and he, again and again declaring in public sessions like this project will not be stopped. how dare he yaar. If all the MPs, MLAs of the district come together it can be stopped. But with the name of politics and money, they act blind. but one thing is clear that we need to chase this corrupt party from the state and join the PM who has taken auth to save the country. At least let him give a chance. Enough of this Dongi party... at center, at state and at our Mangalore constituency. Enough is enough. Please... Nethravathi rever is far above anything for us Mangaloreans. Some one threatening to barren this heart of the district rever, we will not leave you boss. you are gone now.

As a people's representative he has to stop the loot of people's money. When everyone knows that it will not work such decisions should be stalled and projects stopped. Let them spend Rs 13000 Crores for rain water harvesting and recharging ground water . The problem of water shortage will be sorted out. It will be a very big people's movement.

I had the highest regard for Mr. Khader. Not any more. He has lost my respect for his utterances on Yettinahole. Being a man from this district, he should have safeguarded our interests. In stead he has stabbed us from behind by supporting Yettinahole. People are suffering here as there is no water to drink. And this man is dancing to his master's tunes. Do we need people like Khader and Rai? A big no. And a big no to Nalin Katil also for his big drama.

He should be concerned about the district and the people, why BJP, even if President had approved this project, he should fight to stop it. If he had the least concern for the people of DK and ill effects the project will have on the life of the people, he would not have uttered this. Had hs said that he opposes the project and asked people to join him, people would have driven in droves. He should understand that he is peoples representative and not the governement. It is people who elected him to work for people and not the government. Uttering words such as nothing can be done, it was done by BJP shows his escapism. If the same BJP had approved a project which would have destroyed his house, would he have kept quiet and said this. We need representative who fight tooth and nail for the people and the region and not these escapists

Mr Khader , We know you are very honest & very upright person. We know that integrity is very important to you. Your emphasising that you want a unbiased investigation is proof enough of your unblemished character & clean reputation. B.J.P is stumped when it comes to people like you & J.R.Lobo & are doing their level best to find fault with both of you , but they are helpless & will spread all kinds of false rumors to tarnish your clean image. Do not heed such baseless allegation & Continue to work tirelessly for the welfare of all of us,
