Khader must apologize for pro-Yettinahole comments- Vijay Kumar Shetty

Mangaluru, May 23: "The state health minister U T Khader has insulted the people of Dakshina Kannada and the religious heads by his statement in favour of the Yettinahole project. Religious heads and people irrespective of religion supported the bandh called on, demanding an end to the ongoing Yettinahole project. Hence U T Khader must apologize to the people of the district for his statements in favour of the Yettinahole project as they have hurt the feelings of the people of the district," said Vijay Kumar Shetty, president of Nethravati Rakshana Samyuktha Samiti.



 

Shetty was addressing a press meet on Monday May 23.

"People from his own constituency supported the bandh and it was successful. Nethravati Rakshana Samyuktha Samithi condemns his statement. The project Paschima Vahini may not be effective for the people of Dakshina Kannada. There is no proper knowledge about the Paschima Vahini project," he added.

He further said, "Along with Oscar Fernandes and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel we will meet all the political party state leaders like Yeddyurappa, Dr Parameshwara, and Kumaraswamy and convince them about this project which will harm the district. We will finally meet the CM. The committee is also planning various anti Yettinahole programmes in Bengaluru."

Slamming U T Khader on his statement in favour of Yettinahole, activist M G Hegde said, "Khader should not mislead people. Why can he not write a letter to the CM in favour of the people of Dakshina Kannada, explaining the problems of the people and the harm caused by the project and ask him to re-examine it. Also, why is Khader so interested in this project?"

Dinakar Shetty said, "We will speak to Dr D Veerendra Heggade and Pejawar Shri about this project."

Dinakar Shetty also said "Khader is making a controversial statement on the Yettinahole project just to make the people to forget the allegations made on him on the drug scam,. This is condemnable."

Former deputy mayor Purshotham Chitrapura, Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe, Anand Adyar and others were present.

    The Yettinahole project was proposed, planned, passed and sent planned proposal to the central government by:

    Ex-C.M., Yeddy,
    Ex-Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda and
    Ex- Chief Minister Shettar.
    In the BJP period this project was started and e x e c u t e d.
    Congress is only accomplishing what was started.

    Mr.Joseph , People create tension among...we mangaloreans know the crisis of water and we elect people to safeguard interest of our city first then state, then country..we vote for credible candidate it could be CONGRESS or BJP..no one is communal unless people spark the issues..mangaloreans are peace loving people and we all accept multiculture and religion..i have good friends in Christian and muslim community and water is issue for all people here...Politicians may change but we people will have to suffer

    Will you keep quiet and not stop them.

    That is what VKS and the people of DK are doing This project is detrimental to the people of DK. Netravati is our lifeline and the project will snatch it from us. You already know the tough time people are having now. You very well know that none of the districts useless elected representatives are doing anything to stop this project as it will only stop them from filling their pockets. UTK yesterday’s statement itself is enough to show this. They are least bothered of this as the sufferers will be commoners like you and I and they will not be affected by this. Do not support congress like a blind bhakth. If we do not fight to stop this, the karma/curse of this will fall on your and our children. Let them not suffer just because of their parent’s inaction.

    The only qualification Khader has is his 'politician father'.Its just nepotism. He has nothing credible to his name. His appointment was just a part of Cong criteria to appease a certain faction of 'minorities'. We all are aware that his tenure is a big failure, and has been taken to task many times.
    So the only way out is to 'hop ' off from the sinking ship of Cong.

    These leaders knowingly confusing the public.
    The YNH project is located near Sakleshpur after crossing the shiradi Ghat.
    The water can be collected only if there is rain and what is the problem if the rain water collected in that area then pumped to Hasan and then it can flow to Kolar.
    If you take the people who protest to the area where YNH project is located then I dont think even 10% will join this team.
    The YNH project has nothing to do with water source of Nethravati river.
    If you carefully examine the water is flowing towards coorg and joining Kaveri river.
    Nalin Kumar started this game and then all this jobless oldies joined for publicity.

So ministers and chief ministers in the existing states have been ordered to send double. to retain the posts these people support any anti-people projects provided they get the share to send.

    Khadar should have been careful while touching the sensitive topic of yettinahole very well knowing that DK is reeling without piped water. To openly support the project at this time was uncalled for. I think he lacks political maturity. No doubt Ramanath Rai, J.R.Lobo, Moideen Bawa etc never broached this topic nor comment on it with the Press. Heart of hearts they probably know that it was a wrong move but will not publicly critisise it. There lies the maturity. They are no doubt forced to support the party stand on the project whether they like it or not.

    Khader Bhai, people of Mangalore and DK are united without difference in caste creed and religion. Our onus slogan is stop Yettinahole project. This is what people of Mangalore was saying from day oen that is during previous BJP rule and now in Congress rule. Don't play with the sentiments of people of DK. If Congress govt. is adamant on going ahead with the project as d by you, then people of Mangalore will be adamant not to choose Congress in next election. We are united and will stay united Khader Bhai. We want a minister who can represent people of DK and not a rubber stamp person at the top.

    Hey Guys,you don't expect apologize from our health minister U.T.Khader for his Pro-Yettinahole comment.Because his name has been already spoiled in medicine/drug purchase scam.He will stick to his statement in order to save his chair in the Vidhana Soudha.Whether you cry or fry but his slogan will be the same' Yettinahole project will continue at any cost.Because he has already demoralized and can't show his face in front of the public.He has betrayed the people of Dakshina Kannada with this pro-Yettinahole statement.Shame on him.He does not belonging to Dakshina Kannada.When his own constituency people against the implementation of yettinahole project regardless of their religion,caste,faith,creed and language,his comment is contradictory and he must apologize.In recent days,he is always in CM Siddaramaya's house and applying butter to save his chair.He knows that he is guilty and involved in medicine/drug purchase scam.It is quite natural that those who are involved in the scam,in the beginning they will say,I am innocent,I didn't do any wrong things,let the government probe the case,if proved take retirement from the politics.Since he is involved in the scam,now he feels guilty and reluctant to quit his post.If he is really not guilty,he should have been retired from the politics on moral ground until the result of the probe is d.Now he is afraid and feeling shame.Now apply apply butter,finally he will fall in the gutter.No doubt about it.If he is really a gentlemen he should apologize and resign from his post.But he will not do so.

    With regards to Yettina Hole: What do/did we expect Khader to do ?
    a) keep Quietb) oppose it c)give us the real picture.

    By giving us the real picture ( what is going to happen) - Khader has put his popularity at risk but has has played the game well. He is better than "all those" who cried the crocodile tears.These statements give what is going to happen- reality jolt- so that we the people of DK prepare better to fight this battle.

    Therefore I do not find merit in the argument that he should apologize. Stop going after Khader. Lets utilize your resources and efforts towards coming up with a plan of strategy. First step is to stop calling those real culprits for ribbon cutting ceremonies. Forget their caste, community etc as these are the people who have sold their soul. Even at the peak of water crises, they were busy reaping the benefits of sand crises and selling trucks of sands ( plenty as the rivers were dry!!!) to Bangalore.



    The project has been sanctioned to get loads of money via contracts to those very sand people. Uppu thindha mele- how can they oppose these projects now?

    My suggestion is : whichever party you support, do not support these elements in that party. Those responsible for the Yettina Hole are there in both the parties. If there is Bandh against those candidates then their parties will think twice to field them as candidates.

    Khader is an ally/friend and therefore criticizing him is barking up the wrong tree !

    I totally agree with the views expressed by Mr. Vijay Kumar Shetty. Can anyone excuse such imperious acts by our elected representatives? They live here, they inhale this air, they drink this water and when it is time for them to show their loyalty to this region, they show their backs. What is the use of having or electing people like Khader or Ramanath Rai? It is like the head of a household deserting his family members at a time when he has defend them. If acts like not supporting the people are bad, their statements are even worse. They have taken the people of this district for granted. We will stand by those who take care of our interests and if any elected representative stabs us like how Ramanath Rai, Khader, Shakuntala Shetty, Ivan, Lobo, Nalin Katil, Moily or Sadananda Gowda have done, the people of this district should not hesitate to show them their places. These people have been elected to serve us and look after our interests and not to add more pounds around their bellies. Chuck them out........

    All these days we are sleeping and then woken up all sudden only after govt start implementing the project.
    Every politician and leaders including attending this press conference know project reached at a point where it cannot be stopped.Atleast Khader showing some courage to accept the truth.
    It is not Khader who started the project and it is not in Khader hand to stop this project.It is upto people to judge Khader
