Jalandhar, Oct 29:
A political outfit on Sunday October 28, claimed to have rescued a girl allegedly forced into prostitution in Singapore by a woman travel agent.

The agent, identified as Sunita Rani, took Rs 51,000 from Veerpal Kaur, a resident of Moga district with an assurance that she would provide her a job in Singapore, Lok Bhalai Party leader and former union minister Balwant Singh Ramoowalia said.

Few months later, the girl was forced into prostitution and when she refused, Sunita made her arrested in a false theft case, Ramoowalia told reporters here.

Kaur, who was also accompanying the leader, alleged that Sunita later released her on bail only to force her again into flesh trade.

After getting a call from the victim, Ramoowalia said he contacted the Singapore High Commissioner who released the victim from the clutches of the agent. She was later brought to her home in Punjab.

Ramoowalia claimed that there were about 85 girls from the state leading a miserable life in Singapore.
