Udupi, May 24: Worms were found in the water supplied through the tankers to Bannanje ward SC Colony houses here on Tuesday, May 24.

There are nearly 12 houses here. Due to scarcity of water, it was being supplied through tankers once in two days. It looked to be suitable for drinking. However sometimes the water supplied used to be contaminated and smelt a little bad. The water supplied on Tuesday, May 24 had worms in it. When local tanker driver Bhaskar was asked, he said that they pumped the water at Baje and brought.

Nithyananda Olakadu of Udupi citizen’s committee has alleged discrimination saying that clean water is being supplied to some areas and contaminated water is being supplied here, being scheduled caste colony.

When council president Meenakshi Madhava Bannanje was informed she has bluntly said that water cannot be supplied to them until it starts raining, alleged local resident Rajendra.

The corporation which continuously supplies water to nearby residential building is being unjust to the SC colony. “If we drink this water and fall sick, do they pay our hospital bills?" asked local resident Malathi.
