RVD asks Jaitely to release Rs 40 cr for Coastal Tourist Circuit Scheme

Bengaluru, May 25: Karnataka’s Tourism Minister R V Deshpande, who is also in charge of Large and Medium Industries, called on Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely in Delhi on Tuesday and sought release of Rs 40 crore of the pending funds for completing the Tourism Coastal Circuit Scheme.

The Centre had promised to release Rs 50 crore for the coastal tourism circuit scheme and had already released Rs 10 crore.

The Karnataka coastal tourism circuit scheme is aimed at developing the beaches and other tourist spots in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada up to Goa.

Deshpande also urged Jaitely’s intervention to free the seized Accounts of ViswesvarayaTechnological University at Belagavi to enable the University to carry out its activities.

Meanwhile, Australian High Commissioner Ms Harinder Sidhu called on Deshpande at his chambers in Vidhana Soudha on Wednesday.

Sean Kelly, Consul General of Australia in New Delhi and Gourav Gupta, State’s Industries Commissioner also participated in the discussions.
