Neha Shetty from Karkala secures second rank in state PUC exams

Daijiworld Media Network–Karkala (DV)

Karkala, May 25: Neha Shetty, daughter of Dayanand Shetty and Savitha D Shetty from Jnanasudha PUC College, Kukkundoor, Karkala has secured the second rank in state with 595 marks in II PUC (Science) examination.

In an exclusive interview with Daijiworld.com, Neha Shetty said, “The PUC results have made me really happy. My ambition is to become a chemical engineer. I want to do my chemical engineering in NITK Surathkal.”

Neha Shetty's father Dayanand Shetty who works in Doha as mechanic also expressed joy on his daughter’s achievement.

Neha Shetty completed her primary and secondary education at Dr N Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial English Medium School Nitte.

Speaking about her achievement in PUC examination, she said, “If you work with dedication and confidence, nothing can stop you from success.”

“Sudhakar Shetty, president Jnanasudha PUC College is an inspiration for me who always supported me in my studies. During the examination, I used to read for 16 hours a day. My family supported me always. Sometimes when I scored less marks in examinations, they always motivated by saying ‘You can do it, do well next time’,” she said.

“Apart from studies, I am also good at painting and dancing. During my leisure time, I paint,” she added.

Speaking about question paper leak twice which put chemistry students in distress, she said, “When the question paper was leaked for the second time, I really felt bad and was tensed. My parents consoled me during that time. The government should take responsibility and conduct the exam in a systematic manner with proper security and do not put future of students in jeopardy.”

Lots of congratulations to Neha, to her parents and to her college management. Every year our head goes up after seeing the 10th and 12th results.
I have small suggestion to Neha. I too a basically a chemical engineer and she wolud like to become a chemical engineer. She being a rank holder i dont feel she ed a very good subject. If she has specific reason to join chemical engineering , then it is ok, otherwise chemical engineering does not have very good opportunity as far as job market or self employment is concern.

Congrats, but are you sure you want to become chemical engineer.

You will definitely get a seat, but my guess is after studies you will end up in software given pay and hardships in chemical industry

    Anyhow good luck

Great news.. Congratulations…Being myself from Karkala with Chemical Engineering as my educational credentials, very much proud of Ms Neha on your planning to further studies in this engineering stream. It’s a subject much to do with Unit operations and Unit processes together with the design plus operation of industrial chemical plants of various nature.

Nice to see your beaming and joyous parents with their proud daughter. I take this opportunity for wishing to bring more laurels in the days to come…..Keep up your efforts.

Hearty congratulations on your achievement. Chemical Engineering has wide scope with state of art technologies. People understand Chemical Engineering as Chemistry, however you will study more on Unit operations (Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Distillation, Absorption, Control systems, Reaction Engineering etc) in Chemical Engineering.
This is a core engineering subject and more you will learn when you climb the ladder of your career as a Chemical Engineer. You have to learn more on technology aspects coupled with Engineering. Chemical Engineering coupled with an MBA from IIM will be an added advantage.
