Bengaluru, May 27 (DHNS): The Congress on Thursday came out with a short film titled “Achhe din - Sachhe din”, as part of an effort to highlight the ‘failures’ of the NDA government at the Centre, on the occasion of it completing two years in office.

Two youths have acted in the film donning various roles such as job-seekers, businessmen, farmers and retired individuals.

In each of these roles, the actors have tried to depict how various sections of people are feeling let down because of the ‘failure’ on the part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil the promises he had made during the 2014 parliamentary polls.

In one such role, the two educated youths, who are disappointed at not being able to find a job, share their experiences. They wonder why there are not enough job opportunities despite an assurance by Modi two years ago to create two crore jobs a year. And they realise they have been let down.

Similarly, the plight of farmers who have suffered crop loss; the anxiety of businessmen over faulty export policies; and retired people being worried about the government changing the provident fund rules are shown in the short film screened at a press conference organised at the Congress office on Queen’s Road in the city.

The Congress had deputed former Union minister Prithviraj Chavan to address the media.

Chavan said Modi had promised to create two crore jobs every year. But only 1.34 lakh jobs had been created in the past two years.

A record number of farmers have committed suicide in Maharashtra and Karnataka in the last financial year, but the globe-trotting prime minister had no time to visit any of the drought-affected places in these states, he charged.

The government has failed on all fronts. “Modi is out to destroy the diversity of the country. The economy is in doldrums. The people of the country will never forgive him. The Congress party will strongly condemn it,” Chavan added.

Surgery in party

Asked whether the Congress leadership would bring in change in the wake of the party’s defeat in the recent elections, he said the party had been analysing the outcome of the elections.

The high command will take necessary measures to strengthen the party in the coming days, he added.
