Mangaluru: Arena short film awards presented in colourful event

Mangaluru, May 27: Arena animation, in association with Daijiworld 24x7 television, organised Arena short film awards (ASFA). The awards aimed at encouraging both young film makers and college students alike to display their talents. The winners of various categories were presented the award at the short film festival gala awards on Thursday, May 26, at Townhall in city.

Chairman Shree devi institutions, Sadananda Shetty, formally inaugurated the award ceremony by symbolically lighting the lamp and launching the trophy.


Addressing the gathering, Sadananda Shetty said "I am proud to say that Arena short film awards which had started out as a humble begining, has reached such great heights. It is matter of pride that Daijiworld, which has made a big name in a short span of time has extended great support in organising this short film awards. I  wish all the success and congratulate all the winners of the awards."

Arena short film awards :

Short film of the year nominees: Karal, Ambani, Cheers, Chayamukhi, Oomai.

Winner - Cheers

Best director nominees: Rithesh Bangera-Manada Matu, Ajay T P-Cheers, Sandeep Lanka-Oomai, Darshan K-Karal, Vinod Nag-Ambani

Winner - Sandeep Lanka- Oomai

Best editing nominees: Shivaraj Mehu- Ambani, Kiran Midigeshi, Vishwajith Rao-Present Sir, Kantharaj-Cheers, Sandeep Lankah-Omai, Muttu-Cruel Cafe

Best actor nominees: Gopinath Bhat- The Devil Himself, Master Manoj-Ambani, Rakshith Gowda-Cheers, Manoj Merla-Learning, Gopal Krishna Deshpande-Present Sir

Best actress nominees: Shruthi Suresh-Chayamukhi, Sujatha Shetty -Manada Matu, Shruthi Hariharan-ABC, Priyanka Shukla-Lisa

Best background music nominees:Christo Sabastine-Chayamukhi, Jayanth Aithal- Ek Galathi, Sandesh-Manada Matu, Sandesh- Kshudh.

Best re-recording nominees: Haricharan-Cheers, Christo Sabastine-Chayamukhi, Sandeep Lankah-Oomai, Kiran Ravindranath-Ambani,

Best screenplay nominees: Aiay T P-Cheers, Sandeep Lankah-Oomai, Anuroop-Chayarnukhi, Vinod Nag-Ambani, Dharshan K-Karal

Jury award - Child artist from the movie Karal.

Famous personalities from the film industry like Kudla Saikrishna, Ranjith Suvarna, Sujith Nayak and Prashanth CK were the jury for selection of these categories.

Ocean kids, Sai sama creations, and team floor breakers, entertained the audience with their performances.

Walter Nandalike, managing director of Daijiworld media pvt ltd welcomed the gathering while Sharmila and RJ Roopesh Shetty compeered the event.

M B Ganesh, DGM of corporation bank, Jhonson, zonal manager of Arena Bengaluru, Mohammed Asif, Abbas, directors of Arena Mangaluru, Shivadwaj, Kannada movie actor, Yajna Shetty, Kannada movie actress, Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, Rajesh Bramhavar, Soujaya Hegde, Mythri Malli, Anupama and other dignitaries were present at the occasion.

Melvyn Rodrigues, Hemacharya, Divyanand Gonsalves and Nissar Mohammed were present among others.
