Los Angeles, May 28 (IANS): Actor Rainn Wilson has called Johnny Depp a "wife beater", referring to Amber Heard's claims that the "Pirates of the Caribbean" actor abused her.

"Here's what I learned today: there's a 100 percent antibiotic resistant bacteria, bees killed a hiker, Captain Jack Sparrow is a wife beater," Wilson tweeted on Friday, referring to Depp's character in the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie series, reports aceshowbiz.com.

Some Twitter users agreed with the "Backstrom" actor's comment.

"The actor that played Jack Sparrow is a wife beater. Jack Sparrow himself seems in pretty good shape -- for a pirate," one user said while another suggested Rainn to be more careful in making social media remarks.

"Careful now Rainn, I think you meant 'allegedly'. Those bees can be awfully litigious," wrote the user.

Heard, on Friday, was granted a temporary restraining order against Depp until June 17 after she accused him of domestic violence. She claimed that the actor hit her in the face with a cellphone, pulled her hair, struck her and screamed at her.
