Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery Dubai receives IMTJ award at Madrid

Dubai, May 30: Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery, UAE’s premier private healthcare facility and a leading centre for orthopaedic, spine and joint care in the region, was awarded the title of ‘International Specialist Patient Hospital of the Year’ by UK-based medical publication, The International Medical Travel Journal (IMTJ) at its annual awards, which took place on May 24, at Madrid, Spain.


The awards ceremony was held in conjunction with the IMTJ Medical Travel Summit, which brings together the world’s best known providers and experts in international medical care.

Dr Shajir Gaffar, CEO of VPS Healthcare Dubai &Northern Emirates and Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery received the award from the Chairman of IMTJ in the presence of the world’s leading medical professionals at a high profile gala dinner hosted by IMTJ on May 24. The accolade recognized the healthcare facility's great success in attracting and serving international patients.

The hospital, which provides world-class, specialized and excellent medical treatment and services to multinational communities in the Middle East, trumped a host of other international health care organizations to win the much-deserved accolade based on the feedback from an independent panel of medical travel experts. The IMTJ awards recognize the contributions made to the medical tourism industry by all the health care organizations or individuals nominated. The awards showcased the best medical tourism destination of the year, best spa, excellence in customer service and the category that Burjeel Hospital for Advanced Surgery was nominated among 22 categories.
