Karnataka police body leader Shashidhar held, wife to move court

Bengaluru, June 2 (IANS) : Authorities on Thursday arrested Karnataka state police association leader V. Shashidhar for planning to spearhead a strike on June 4, protesting exploitation, low pay and poor working conditions. His wife said they would move court.

"A case has been registered at Yelahanka New Town police station and Karnataka police association president Shahidhar has been arrested and presented before local court which remanded him to judicial custody till June 16," said Bengaluru Police Commissioner N.S. Megharikh.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Club, Shashidhar's wife Poornima Shashidhar said: "Nearly 30 policemen raided our home at midnight and seized my husband's mobile phone, laptop, pamphlets and took him into custody.

"There was no need for thirty people to come to our residence to arrest him. He (Shashidhar) is not a terrorist, he was only supporting the police cause. We will fight it out in the court," she added.

On Wednesday, the Karnataka government stringently warned against the planned agitation and invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (Esma) for maintaining public order and safety across the state.

Despite the warning, the Karnataka state police association which includes the 60,000 constabulary force has decided to push forward with their en masse leave on Saturday.

Shashidhar alleged that constables are being forced to work for irregular and long hours, without proper leave mechanism and harassment by senior officers.

It is really funny to see the discussion is dragged between Central vs State givt. Whoever is responsible, we all know that Policemen are the lowest paid people with long hours of duty sometimes 24x7! They do their duty in all inhuman conditions! When highest paid Govt employees, MPs, MLAs and even Municipal Corporators are corrupt why blame these poorly paid policemen for corruption? Give them better pay and better working conditions and demand better work from them!
Just imagine a day without police force on duty!

There are plenty of un-employed youth in our state.

DISMISS THOSE AGITATING POLICE PERSONNEL AND APPOINT FROM NEW RECRUITING.

THESE PEOPLE ARE MAKING MONEY FROM BOTH THE SIDES FROM THE INNOCENTS AND FROM THE CULPRITS.

THERE ARE POLICE PERSONNEL IN THE STATIONS WAITING IN ONE LEG FOR COMPLAINTS AND POCKET HEFTY MONEY. AND CASE DISMISSED IN THE POLICE STATION.

WE CAN FIND VERY, TO VERY FEW POLICE PERSONNEL NON-CORRUPT.

    Suresh, Shankar, Krish, Hindustani,

Have you guys satisfied with your swa-kucha-mardana ??? Then, give a heed to the following :

"At-least more youth will be encouraged to join IPS encouraged by Modi's gesture !" Did I say anything about STATE Police Department ? IPS stands for Indian Police Services, not STATE POLICE !

If the personnel employed in police department have a little raise in their pay-package, do you lose or gain ? How do you justify raise to MPS ? That too doubling of their pay ?

If still have some time, I have the following information for you :
    Quote
Examination for recruitment of IAS and IPS is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on the basis of the annual Civil Services Examination, a competitive civil service examination, and for IFS on the basis of the IFS Examination. Since 2012 onwards, the preliminary (first test) of the two examinations are combined. These officers are recruited and trained by the Central Government, and then allotted to different State cadres.

Question 32. Read the following paragraph and answer the questions.
"Why arrest him ? Police Department is under central rule. If Modi can consider 100% increase to MPs, why not give a raise in Police personnel's pay ? "

    a. Whose arrest is questioned in the paragraph?
    b. Is he a state government Employee?
    c. Isn't it clear that the writer is caught foot in her mouth?

Sorry Lydia, for taking you to through school time pattern.

At least be bold enough to accept the mistake when you have done one. It might be definitely by mistake coz intelligent ones like will not make such mistakes.

    Shankar,

I never hesitated from apologising whenever a situation came up but here the way you (and your cronies) ridiculed my point (about IPS being under central govt.,) saying that the police are under state government as if no police recruited by centre are serving in states! I had to prove my point first which I did.

As for a raise that is demanded, I have already said that police personnel are more deserving than the MPs whom Modi is considering as if just giving it away from his pocket !

If you ask me who should give the rise to the police, certainly their respective heads - whether Siddu or NaMo ! Ask and see gentleman, why running around the bush ?

but they forget that we are proud of Modiji because of his work, not because of his personnel life.

because we know personnel life of some one may harm the Party (as congress), but capacity of some one may help to shine country.

There should be a method to redress the grievance of the Policemen. In India memorandums have no value instead strikes, damage to property gets immediate results. Those at the helm of affairs should redress the genuine grievances of the Policemen instead of resorting to highhandedness by arresting them.
