Konkani drama 'Posko' enthralls Doha audience

Doha, Jun 2: 'Posko' (adopted child), a konkani drama written and directed by Jr Roseferns brought laurels and peel of laughter to the houseful audience at the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) on last Friday, May 27.

The drama had all the ingredients of a super hit, romance, tragedy, suspense, rib-tickling comedy and blended into a balanced performance.

Jr Roseferns first time stepped into drama after acting and directing many one act plays in the past. He was strongly supported by his talented wife Libby Fernandes to make the event a grand success.

The unique opening chorus was sung by Dubai trio, Edwin, Anthony and Manuxin who entertained the crowd with their latest political songs that earned a huge applause for their performances. Kuwait based trio, Mario, Cajetan and Michael also took the entertainment ahead. They rocked the show with their trio songs based on gulf Goans and Goans from Qatar. 

Comedian Agostinho and Selvy who travelled all the way from Goa to Doha, ensured that the audience had uncontrollable laughter thus making their penny worth watching Posko.

It was inspiring to witness the local talents from Qatar for their highly professional performances. The local talents were Luis Carvalho, Vincy D’Costa, Amresh Kamat, Armando Gomes, Peter Camilo, Natcey Barreto, Carmen Corrreia, Anton Joao Vaz, John De Sa and Jr. Roseferns. Music was provided by Kuwait based Maestro Shahu.

Chief guest of the evening was Simon D’Silva, president of Goan Welfare Associaion, the Global Goans Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of GPCC NRI Global Goans cell that demands with the government for NRI voting rights and dual citizenship as a special category. D’Silva in his well delivered speech appreciated Jr Roseferns and his wife Libby Fernandes for taking the initiative to have such a magnificent show by bringing artistes from Goa, Kuwait, Dubai and showcasing local talents and exploring their art very professionally.

D’Silva appealed Konkani audience to keep the language alive for future generation as language, music and sports bring the community together.

New album named HODDE produced by Edwin D’Costa was released at the hands of Maurice Pereira in presence of chief guest Simon D’Silva, Dubai trio Edwin, Manuxin, Anthony and director Jr Roseferns.

Event was hosted by Perina Pereira with her unique style keeping typical Goan tradition and culture alive. It was co-hosted by Amresh Kamat.
