Udupi, Jun 4: The Biometric system in the office of the RTO here has stopped working for the last three days causing inconvenience to people.

The shortage of staff in the office has added to the problem. People waiting for driving license and finger prints are put to hardship. The maintenance contract for the computers has been given to Rose Malt, a private company from Bengaluru. The company is taking too long to set things right. The company staff members have been giving evasive answers to the people.

When enquired with RTO S B Surendrappa, he said that the problem has become complex as the computer of the Rose Malt is not working and a computer from Mangaluru RTO will be brought at the soonest as a replacement.

He assured that he will look into the efficiency of staff members.

The number of vehicles purchased and waiting for registration also has increased.
