Mangalore: 'Kalakar' Award Presented to Harry D'Souza at Patrao Nite

Mangalore, Nov 4: The annual 'Kalakar Puroskar' for 2007, instituted by the house of Carvalhos in association with Thomas Stephens Konknni Kendr, Alto Porvorim, Goa and Mandd Sobhann (R), Mangalore, was presented to Harry D'Souza of Harry's Century Band, Bijai, Mangalore at the Kalangann heritage centre on Sunday, November 4 evening.





The annual award, currently in its third year, is being given to a Konkani artiste having made a significant contribution to the world of music, theatre and folklore. While the very first was given to 'Sangeet Guru' Joel Pereira for music, the second year's recipient was Arun Raj Rodrigues.


Felix D'Souza, well-known political and community leader of Mumbai presented this award on the occasion of the 71st 'Moinealli Manchi' (Monthly Theatre), where a musical concert by Patrao brothers - John and Anil - of Derebail was also staged. Dr Pratap Naik SJ of TSKK - Goa representing of the house of Carvalhos, Mandd Sobhann 'pirjent' Eric Ozario and president Louis J Pinto, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan convener and Kalangann site donor Roy Castelino were present on the occasion. Titus Noronha compered the stage programme.



Later, the Patrao Brothers' Nite was held at Kalangann to a jam-packed audience, in which John and Anil exhibited their musical talents.









'Ttik ttik ghoddialem' by child artistes, 'Ami mogar asanv' by Prashant Raj and Anita Samson, 'Amkam noxib na' by Adolf Jayatilak, Ronald Fernandes and Rony Crasta, 'Itlea vorsam thaun' by Amabelle Moras, 'Mog-re Mog-re' by Rony Crasta, 'High school-achem xikop' by Evita and Jovita Coelho, 'Yego yego, dance koruiam' by Adolf and Amabelle, 'Hem git gaitam' by Prashant Raj, 'Vhoni' by Sharel Viegas and Lisa D'Silva, 'Ugddas tuzo' by Anita Samson, 'Igorjechem choir' by Ronald, Rony and Prashant Raj, 'Hanvem mog kel'lo' by Adolf, 'Ronnie - Annie' by Rony Crasta and Anita, 'Xetkar' group song by Ronald Fernandes, interspersed with humorous skits by Felix Saldanha ('Fel' of one-time hit comedy trio 'Dol-Fel-Chal'), Raymond Lobo and Roshan Mascarenhas kept the audience totally engaged in enjoying the event. Eric Ozario gave a surprise presentation of 'Melltana moga', a soul-stirring number. Dimple Pinto compered the programme in her own charming way.


It was after a long gap of 15 years that the Patrao Brothers presented a musical 'nite'. It was a refreshing experience and a long-awaited musical feast for their loyal fans and well-wishers.
