Bengaluru: Govt accepts DySP Anupama Shenoy's resignation

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jun 10: The government has accepted the resignation tendered to her post by Kudligi deputy superintendent of police (DySP), Anupama Shenoy, with immediate effect. Earlier, the government had expressed its intention to go slow on the resignation and also the hope that the DySP can be convinced to withdraw her resignation.

Anupama, who had gone missing after resigning from her job, arrived at her residential quarters at Kudligi at around 4 am on Thursday June 9 in a car along with her brother. Later, she said that her decision to resign was final. She also asserted that the Facebook account, some of the posts made in which were insulting and confrontational in nature, did not belong to her.

At the behest of state director general of police, Omprakash, Ballari district superintendent of police, R Chetan, had formed two police teams in a bid to woo her back into the police force. Anupama, when she appeared at night on Wednesday at Sirsi, was approached by local police personnel in an effort to make her to withdraw her resignation. She had left Sirsi without saying anything.

Speaking to media persons who were waiting for her at Kudligi, Anupama said that her decision to resign was final. She also clarified that she has nothing to do with the Facebook posts made in her name. She said she does not have any Facebook account. "There is a possibility that someone would have opened it in my name, and it would have been hacked," she stated. About the question of her fight against Ballari district in-charge and state labour minister, Parameshwar Naik, she replied that she will fight for justice through court.

To a question as to whether she resigned because of political influence, pressure from liquor lobby, protest etc connected with dispute over construction of a building at Kudligi on June 4, she said she had resigned for personal reasons. She urged people not to rake up the issue of her resignation for personal gains. Later in the day, she went to Bhatkal from Kudligi.

If you are sick and Doctor prescribed injection you should not refuse by saying it hurts. Anupama did the same and she may get justice or may not all depend upon her lawyer. Who know what all things happen in India!!! We all must ready to face it.

Siddu govt trapped. Next election is fought on strategies that are new and innovative. Anupama shenoy was working for just cause of dalits and her work towards dalits will help her future. Ministers like anjaneya shud have backed her tooth n nail in ambedkar bhavan issue. She really underwent enormous torture, humiliation, noncooperation n insult from juniors as well as seniors in power. I feel for her plight. She is an inspiring lady n have deep respect to her work n commitment. But in her ordeal she got support from people from all sections of society. Her only choice to fight against goons in bellary is to fight election against paramesh naik n dust him out. If she joins bjp then she would be projected as saviour of dalits bcz she worked hard to give justice to dalits. Her experience in discharging duties honestly is real. BJP can now target dalit vote bank.

People like patmeshji naik may boast of his success over Anupama but people support to Anupama might teach Siddu government a lesson. Many honest officers have been systematically eliminated in way or other by powerful lobby headed by goon politicians. D.K. RAVI simply vanished without any explanations. People have mastered art of perfect suppression n torture. Government allows honest officers to work as long as their work doesn't affect politicians and powerful people. If not face the music of destruction.

I wish you all the best Anupam Shenoy. As rightly said by Ashok Bhat in this forum, it will be the right thing to enroll herself to study further and become a lawyer. If she joins any political party, then, the respect people had will vanish. It will be automatically construed, that the drama that took place was well orchestrated. So, Ms. Shenoy, stick to your guns, be honest and serve honestly. Don't destroy the credibility you earned by making a wrong decision.

A few months back there was a public spat between a police officer and a Haryana Minister. I am speculating if the commentators who are opposing Ms Shenoy condemned the police officer or the minister!

Nice decisions - She is firm on her decision and Government accepted the resignation. I also appreciate that Madam Anupama decided to approach court of law for justice. What is future ? Please do not join any political party, consult some good people in the society, study law and become a lawyer - help the people who are deprived of justice. All the best and Have a bright future.

Good decision of the Government. Government did its part to convince her to withdraw. Appears she will be roped in by political parties in the days to come. In the light of what DySP Anupama has said the Government should probe the face book posting and book the culprits for derogatory comments.

The experience of Dysp Anupama Shenoy is not a isolated case but very common amongst police personnel. It is imperative that they are not independent in discharging their duties and have to work with interference of uneducated, uncultured, insensitive politicians.
Resignation is not a solution but she could have become a 'Singham' and perused her principles with renewed vigor....
Soceity badly needs service like Anupama Shenoy...
