Belagavi, Jun 10: A woman, in connivance with her paramour, got her son murdered recently. It is learnt that the lady was angry that her son had become a stumbling block in her illicit relationship with a man. The woman and her lover, it is said, got her son fully drunk, took him to a desolate spot, and killed him by dropping a boulder on his head.

The body of a youngster had been found lying in a pool of blood near Pamaladinni village near Ghataprabha two days back. The skull of the body was found to have been crushed beyond recognition. The policemen, who took up investigation, found that the murdered man was Shivanand Alagundi (22) from Konnur village in Gokakl taluk in the district. When they questioned his mother, changes in her behaviour gave rise to doubts in the minds of police personnel.

When the policemen took the woman away and interrogated her, they came to know the story behind the above murder. The youth's mother, Surekha, had illicit relationship with a person named Siddalinga Bennady from Pamaladinni village since he last some years. Shivanand was bitterly opposed to this relationship, and he often fought with his mother on this issue. Fed up by her son's unending resistance to her relationship, Surekha joined her paramour in drawing up a plan to eliminate her son.

On Monday night, Siddalinga offered liquor to Shivanand. He then led Shivanand to a deserted locality and dropped a huge boulder on his head near Pamaladinni.

Policemen said that both the accused have confessed to their crime. Both were produced in the court, after which they were remanded to judicial custody.
