Mangaluru: City to see international level swimming pool

Mangaluru, Jun 10: "Within few days a proper location will be identified for International level swimming pool near Surathkal. It will be either in Hosabettu or in some other place," said city mayor Harinath.

He was speaking to media on Thursday, June 9 after a visit in the Surathkal area to find a suitable government land for the construction of international level swimming pool.

"After gathering the public opinion and considering the opinions of members of Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC), we will decide about the construction of the swimming pool." mayor added.

“It is better construct swimming pool in the city. In future it will be helpful to hold swimming competitions." Harinath opined.

On this occasion MCC chief whip M Shashidhar Hegde, corporators Appi, Bashir Ahmed and Prathibha Kulai, Congress leader Y Raghavendra Rao, former corporator I Ismail, Anand Amin and others were present with the mayor.

    There already are more than enough swimming pools in mangalore.
    Only a small fraction of the people use them.Do we have good standard wash rooms/toilets in the market areas ,tourist areas and beaches ?

    Re-route the drainage system and make gujjire kere water suitable for drinking, people of Kudla need drinking water first....fulfill the basic needs of citizens who have voted for u guys than go for luxury needs....

    Wants to close international swimming pool shut during summer due to shortage of water.
    Unneccssarily they are wasting money for wrong thing which distributed by central recently.
    Can anyone inform what's the contribution of this government from last three years..??
    He act like..hum yahan ke hai raajkumar..not giving chance for others to near. Really strange.

    We have already seen international standard roads, bridges and stadium in Mangalore. Now can't wait to see international standard swimming pool!!

    Ensure to engage international staff to supervise its maintenance.
