Mangaluru, Jun 10: While the anticipatory bail application of Naresh Shenoy, the main accused in Vinayak Baliga murder case has been rejected by the state High Court on Thursday, June 9, it is now reliably learned that attempts are being made to obtain regular bail for the co-accused of the case in order to get parity bail for Naresh Shenoy if he is arrested.

Prof Narendra Nayak, who is watching the developments and who has staged many protests demanding the arrest of Naresh Shenoy, says "An application was made for bail for the first two arrested Nitesh Devadiga and Vineeth Poojary at second additional sessions judge at Mangaluru on June 7 and the application was rejected. The move was strongly opposed by the police.Now the preparations are being made to approach the High Court on the same. Once the co-accused manage to secure bail, it becomes easier for Naresh Shenoy to secure parity bail on the basis of bail secured by the co-accused in the same case."

The word ‘parity’ connotes a state when a person is placed on the same footing as the other person. The word ‘parity’ means the state or condition being equal or on a level, equality, equality of rank or status. If bail is granted to one accused it should also be granted to the other accused whose case stands on identical footing.

Five arrests have been made so far in the case. One has secured bail as his offence was bailable. Other four are yet to secure bail and the main accused Naresh Shenoy is yet to be arrested.
