Bantwal, Jun 10: Lack of drainage facilities for the rain water has created an artificial lake in Panemangalore, on National Highway between Mangaluru and Bengaluru, where road widening work is in progress.

The work on Melkar, Narahari Nagara and B C Road which was conducted in stages has now reached in front of Panemangalore Satyadevata shrine. The local people had expressed their appreciation of the work.

However rain water that has remained there looks like a small lake causing anxiety among people. There were instances when the legs of people, getting down from buses during the last two days, getting stuck in the slush. Bikes also have got stuck in the wet mud. The mud lake troubles pedestrians and school children while crossing the road.

As the rain is likely to intensify further, the people have urged the concerned local administration or Highways Authority to construct drains for the flow of water.

Just move between Surathkal and Kundapoor, you will realize the quality of work done in four laning national highway!. Most of the places on highway there is water logging and small vehicals suffer the brunt of splased water from vehicles moving in opposite direction!. Also 70% of the places the drainage built is above the road and one will wonder whether road is inside drainage or drainage on road!. How come this type of work is allowed!?. Also the drainage looks like and will remain a third world country forever!. CBI has to conduct raids on people who are entrusted with certifying this third grade work!. Over that they are collecting hefty toll for the facilities only on paper!
