Ranveer Singh elated with Indian of the Year award


New Delhi, June 10 (IANS): Bollywood's livewire actor Ranveer Singh, who was felicitated with the ‘Indian of The Year - Special Achievement Award’ by CNN-NEWS18 here, says he feels "blessed" with the honour.

"I feel blessed, humbled and grateful to be honoured as CNN-NEWS18's 'Indian of the year' for Special Achievement. I'm elated to have my name included in the list of stalwarts and legends of the Indian entertainment industry at this early stage in my career," Ranveer said in a statement.

The 30-year-old star made his debut in 2010 in the film "Band Baaja Baaraat" and has worked in many entertainers like "Ladies vs Ricky Bahl", "Lootera", "Gunday", "Dil Dhadakne Do" and "Bajirao Mastani".

Ranveer says he has been fortunate to have been "given some wonderful opportunities" to showcase his abilities as a performer.

"I'm thankful to everyone who has contributed towards my work. Receiving this huge honour has only motivated me further to work harder to hone my craft going forward. and be the most wholesome entertainer I can be," he added.

The actor is currently busy shooting for his next film "Befikre" in Paris along with actress Vaani Kapoor. His father received the award at an event in the capital on Thursday from Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

For Ranveer, that was his "proudest moment".
