Police inspector gets wife killed with help from mother-in-law

Tumakuru, Jun 11: The police have succeeded in unravelling the suspense behind the murder of Prafulla (25), wife of Hosadurga station police sub-inspector of police, Girish.

Prafulla had been murdered on June 5 at Chelur revenue division of Gubbi taluk in the district.

As per current information, it is said that Prafulla's husband and her mother had hired contract killers to eliminate her. In this connection, police have taken three persons into custody including a gram panchayat member.

The investigating team had taken Girish into custody from Shivalli near Beeranahalli Hosadurga in Chitradurga district. He was subjected to intense questioning. During the questioning, the police could get to the root of the murder. In addition to Girish, Chidananda, member of Sanganahalli gram panchayat in Chelur revenue division, who reportedly accepted contract money from Girish for the killing, and Prafulla's mother, Mahadevamma, stand arrested. Mahadevamma has been accused of abetting the murder.

Reportedly, Girish and Mahadevamma planned to kill Prafulla as she had become a stumbling block in their illicit relationship.

During the interrogation which went on at Sadashivanagara police station here, the accused buckled under pressure and confessed to their crime, it is said.
