Mangaluru, Jun 11: Graduation Day celebration was held at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management here on Saturday June, 11.

Brijesh Krishnan, Infosys associate vice-president and head of delivery for High Tech Consumer Electronics Sector lauded chairman Manjunath Bhanadary and said, “He has visited more than 60 countries in order to disseminate quality learning and understand different aspects of civil life.”

“This educational institution certainly enhances intelligence of students and speaks positively about Mangaluru not only in India but in the entire world. The vision of Manjunath Bhandary is to take Mangaluru to a very high standard.” he added.

“About 400 years ago, India enjoyed 25% of world GDP. Our nation was rich both in wealth and intellect. After the fall of Indian empire to British colonial forces, our country’s GDP came down 10 times and during our Independence the GDP had become less than 2.3%. People who were born in Independent India were poverty stricken and unemployment was rampant. In the second era i.e from 70s to 90s (emergency era), people were growing up thinking about the job options like doctor, engineer, joining a company or a public sector. The third group of people who were born post economic liberalization have many choices that the world enjoys. Today we have world of opportunities. As students, we should have three responsibilities- creating a profession, taking care of elders and taking care of oneself physically as well as mentally,” he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Manjunath Bhandary, president of Bhandary Foundation said, “Four years back when parents came to this institution to admit their children, they used ask me which are the companies that come for campus recruitment. Parents were concerned about the future of their children. The placement department under the leadership of Prof Rashmi Bhandary has been very successful. More than 150 companies have visited this campus for recruitment. More than 400 students have been placed in various companies. Students have more than 3 to 4 offer letters in hand as soon as they complete their studies.”

"This has become possible because of dedicated teachers and collaboration of different companies. On this occasion, I request to all students to be dedicated and committed to whichever company you may join. You are our ambassadors. Don't think about money alone but at least stick to a single company for two to three years,” he added.

Vice-principal Balakrishna S welcomed the guests. Brijesh B Krishnan distributed graduation certificates to the student. Dr U M Bushi principal and other were present on this occasion.

We did not realize that Sahyadri College is so well established and that so many young students get graduated with various Degrees that will lead them to greater success in life.

Each student has to strive to seek suitable employment with their line of specialty. When the job situation depends solely upon the economic situation, all Graduates have to realize the fact of life and should try and seek whatever alternative jobs that are available to them so that they learn the value of "dignity of labor" and learn the work ethics by being able to adapt to the necessity of life.

Best wishes to Sahyadri College for all their efforts in rendering the best possible education to their students.
