Udupi, Jun 13: The wall around drinking water well at parking space behind Sri Krishna Math was demolished six months ago as it obstructed the vehicles and tourists arriving for Paryaya at Pejawar Math. Metal rods were erected in its place. Now the metal railings are broken and about to fall. But the wall is still not constructed.

The well is 15 feet deep and filled with water. Tourists and tourist vehicle drivers have to park their vehicles facing danger. The well is hardly visible at night. If a car or a tempo is driven on the metal railings on it, the stones supporting them are likely to come out, and the vehicle may fall in the well.

The water in the well is also filled with filth and may cause epidemic. On the whole the management of the Math has lost the enthusiasm shown during Paryaya. The tourists have urged the concerned to clean the well and construct a fence so that vehicles can be parked without fear.

Some time we see our City Corporation or Municipality waste no time to demolish or take away even small shops started in road side by any poor person…. There will be big photo in newspaper next day with proper punches by UCC President too but when it comes to safety of general public they put the onus on particular Property owner… Why don’t they simply go there and take necessary action and send the bill to Math? I met one such person in my village recently for complaining about Gram Panchayat for not arranging for rubbish collection in their locality…. I just asked him how many houses are there in their locality and whom they are? Unwillingly he answered they have 5 houses in that locality and they are all relatives…. I just asked one such question…. Do we all need to pay rubbish collection charges collectively just to appoint one rubbish collector of 5 houses, can’t you dispose it yourselves????
