Kundapur, Jun 14: "Anyone and everyone can earn the love, affection and grace of the Lord by following the path of sacrifice, love, and selfless service. However, in the recent past, these feelings are less prevalent among families. Parents have the responsibility to orient their growing children towards service and devotion," advised Bishop of Udupi, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo.

















He was delivering benedictory address and message after celebrating the Holy Eucharist at the annual festival of St Antony's shrine at Kerekatte near Hosangady in the taluk on Monday June 13.

He narrated that St Antony had dedicated himself to the service of propagation of religion at a very young age. "He has emerged as an ideal person by transforming his life for this purpose. He was particularly devoted towards Mother Mary. St Antony, who had come to be known as miracle saint, gained sainthood within a year, and has always remained an inspiration for the devotees," he added.

The Bishop advised people to inculcate a sense of concern and pity towards poor, destitute, and disabled people of the society. He said that the devotees can hope to get the blessings of the Lord only through this route. He opined that people can follow lofty way of life by treating Papal messages as ideal of life.

On this occasion, director of St Joseph Seminary, Joseph Martis, delivered a discourse.

Fr Anil D'Souza, Vicarvar of Kundapur, director of Kerekatte shrine and priest, Fr Xavier Pinto, and priests from Kundapur and Udupi areas concelebrated the Mass.

On this occasion, Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo dedicated to the world Kannada Novena book and Padua Theme Park.

Priest of Kerekatte, Fr Xavier Pinto, welcomed and proposed vote of thanks. Joyston D'Souza presented the programme.

In spite of the fact that there was rain in the region since Monday morning, devotees, undeterred by this fact, visited the shrine. They also lighted the candles and offered flowers as a measure of worship St
Antony.

Udupi, Jun 14: The annual feast of St Antony Orthodox Syrian Church was celebrated at Ammunje - Kolalgiri, near here on Monday, June 13.

Ramban Scaria G M of St Mary’s Syrian Orthodox Church Brahmavar, celebrated the Holy Mass along with Fr Ashwin Fernandes, Fr Abraham Kuriakose, Fr David Crasta and Fr Noel Lewis.

Fr Sujay John Mathew in his homily said “Today we are celebrating St. Antony's feast with faith. And also we know the life of St Antony and his miracles.”

Soon after the Mass, there was procession with the band march. The parish choir sang beautiful hymns.

Fr David Crasta proposed vote of thanks.

On this occasion Rev Ramban Scaria was honoured on completing 25 years priestly service.

Addressing the gathering, Rev Ramban Scaria said, that during his ministry he gave importance to faith formation, education, social and economic development of people and also in finding solutions to the
people in need.

Scholarships were awarded to the deserving students. Sumptuous lunch was served after the Mass.

Mysuru, Jun 14: The feast of St Anthony was celebrated with devotion by thousands of devotees at Dornahalli, Mysuru.

The preparation for the celebration of the annual feast the novenas for 9 days were held with a theme, Just like St.Anthony –Be the witness to the message of Christ.

 

The flag was hoisted on Saturday, the June 4 at 6.00pm by Fr Lourdu Swamy P the regional coordinator of KOPPIC and professor of St Peter’s Pontifical Seminary, Bengaluru.

On the days of novena, the celebration of Holy Eucharistic was at 11.00am & 6.00pm followed by the Car procession, rosary and benediction. The priests from various parishes preached the homily during the Holy Mass, celebrated at 5.30pm from June 4 to 12. The preachers were Fr James, Fr Maria Xavier, Fr Elvis Louis SJ, Fr Tenny Kurien, Fr Thomas Barose, Fr Vijay and Fr K A William.

On the day of feast, June 13, the Mass at 5.00 am was celebrated by Fr Gilbert D’Silva the shrine director. The festive mass was celebrated by Dr Thomas.A Vazhapilly the bishop of Mysore at 10.00am.

During the homily, Bishop emphasized the importance of the year of Mercy. He said, “We have to be merciful like Jesus and learn from him to forgive. Forgiveness does not mean that there is no justice but, forgiveness or mercy and justice go hand in hand”. He continued saying, “Shrines are important places to visit because, and they show us the love of God and his mercy.”

“As we celebrate the feast of St Antony, we have to absorb the love and faith of the saint towards God in us. Only when we love God and have faith in him, healing and good tidings flow to us and we will be able to receive mercy from God and show mercy towards others” he added.

Fr Mari Joseph, vicar general, Fr Desmond Rebello, Fr Antony Swamy, Fr Bernard Prakash, Fr Antony Raj, Fr Sanjay Kumar, Fr C Paul, Fr Praveen Kumar had concelebrated for the festal mass.

‘Sunadha’ a hymns Audio CD was also released by Fr K A William (education secretary) during this festal event.

During this event Fr Gilbert D’Silva was felicitated for the wonderful service rendered in the seven years of his term by Dr Thomas A Vazhapilly.

The Holy Eucharistic celebration at 11.30 am was in Tamil offered by Fr Joseph Abraham from archdiocese of Bengaluru.

To make the devotees from far and near convenient the holy Eucharist was celebrated every hour from 5.00 am to 6.00 pm followed by car procession and benediction.
