Media Release

Muscat, Jun 16: With the arrival of summer, members of Muscat Mogaveers Koota (MMK) organized a family get-together at Crystal Suites Auditorium, Wadi Kabir, Oman on June 3.

The programme opened with a beautiful prayer song sung by Divya Karthik carefully crafted by the committee members of MMK. Prakash Naik, vice president of MMK, inaugurated the programme by welcoming the members with a brief overview of the evening’s agenda. A special mention was made about charity extended to Beena, a resident of Mangaluru, who received a donation of Rs 50,000 from MMK for her rehabilitation and betterment. Shashi Puthran, senior member of MMK advisory committee, extended his greetings to the members for coming together despite their busy schedule and encouraged everyone to continue supporting MMK's future activities, be it in sports, entertainment, education or charity.

The sports enthusiasts of MMK achieved commendable appreciation for winning 6 out of 7 sports events at the recently concluded Kudla Cup event 2016, emerging as the overall champions of the tournament. Shashi Puthran felicitated the captains and team members for their achievements, while Vishwanath Bangera, sports coordinator, conducted the events proceedings.

Divya and Karthik, Rahul and Devika, were felicitated as the newly married couples of the community, blessed by Dr Devdas Shriyan and Sudha Shriyan and Shankar Kotian respectively. A joint cake cutting ceremony was held in celebration of their wedding as well as Roshan Lokesh Kunder and Veena Suresh on the occasion of their birthdays.

The most awaited part of the evening was the cultural episode. The vibrant exhibition of talent by the members of MMK was the best bit of the night, hosted by Rashmi Lokesh Kunder. DJ of the night was Raj Sanil, supported by a platter of singers, Ashok Kotian, Divya Karthik and Prakash Naik. The singers kept the audience in rhythm with their melodious and heartfelt voices, truly singing to the beats of their hearts from some nostalgic Hindi, Kannada and Tulu vintage films.

The highlight of the show was the creative expression of some of the dancers that kept everyone swaying in a jam-packed spirit. The opening performance by Kashvi Loknath and Sushmitha Shesh on the item numbers from Bollywood, which was choreographed by Asha Hemanth; an adorable combo of the sisters Aanchal and Aashi Naveen Kotian on song Mayya Yashodha, choreographed by Sumana Naveen. A solo dance fusion by the multitalented Mithil Ravi Kachan, choreographed by himself; and a chota-packet-bada-dhamaka performance by the boys – Sohan Girish, Harshil and Jeeval Padmakar and Nikethan Pushparaj with a medley of Hindi dance hits, choreographed by Hetal Bhatia and coordinated by Sahana Girish. Last but definitely not the least was a classic performance by the beautiful ladies of MMK, who shook their hips like Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra in the song Pinga from the movie Bajirao Mastani were Vandana Padmakar, Heema Ryle, Roopa Umesh and Ruchika Mendon, choreographed by Heema Ryle and coordinated by Roopa Umesh. All the dancers’ performances on the stage showed their hard work and determination to entertain their friends and families to an enjoyable evening. The guest choreographers, Hetal Bhatia and Asha Hemanth were felicitated as a gesture of appreciation for their time taken to bring out the abilities of the enthusiastic performers.

A brief presentation on the silver jubilee souvenir was showcased to the audience by Suresh Kunder and Ramanand Kunder. To make the crowd more active and interested, several games were conducted for the children, women, couples and bachelors, which was coordinated efficiently by Dhananjay Mendon, Shesh Kachan and Vishwanath Bangera. All participants and winners of the evening were rewarded by the community sponsors, guests and committee members.

Prizes/gifts for the evening were sponsored by Dr Ranjan, Padmakar Mendon and Yashwanth Mendon. A beautiful backdrop was arranged by Shesh Kanchan. The mega raffle prize was sponsored by Ravi Kanchan and Prakash Naik. The lucky winners of the raffle draw were Veena Suresh and Naveen Kotian Kulai. One of the regular sponsors MMK, Mahabala Mendon, also once again supported the event with his contribution.

The night concluded with the vote of thanks given eloquently by Shesh Kachan appreciating all the time and effort taken by the families and members for making the night fun and frolic, despite their commitments and hectic timetable. The committee appreciated the collaboration, support and assistance of the evening’s well-wishers and sponsors, acknowledging the support and dedication of all the members who worked hard to make the event a success.
