Bantwal, Jun 16: Officials from the department of mining and geology seized 25 loads sand illegally stored in a private land and a lorry near Farangipet railway tracks in Pudugrama.
The locals had complained to the officials of sand being stored in vacant lands after sand mining was suspended on June 15. Transport of sand to other districts also is prohibited. In the circumstances geology official Girish Mohan, raided the vacant land at Farangipet on Thursday, June 16, seized 25 loads of sand and sent it to the department of public works. A lorry too has been seized.
PWD engineer Umesh Bhat, Arun and others were present.
