Beltangady: Girl student crushed under school van, driver absconding

Beltangady, Jun 17: Fatimat Tauhida (4), a LKG student of an English medium school, was crushed under the wheels of her school bus at Charmadi on the evening of Thursday June 16.

The small girl from Charmadi was studying in an English medium school at Kakkinje in the taluk. The girl, who had boarded the bus along with her elder sister for going to school, got killed later after coming under the wheels of the same bus. Although the girl was immediately taken to hospital, she had died by then, it is learnt. Locals have blamed recklessness of the bus driver for this accident.

The girl, daughter of Hamad Kunhi residing at Shivabettu Road house at Charmadi, had arrived from the school in the school bus. After alighting from the bus, she was crossing the road to reach her house from the backside of the bus. The bus suddenly moved backward, killing the girl instantly.

Dharmasthala police visited the spot, conducted inspection, and registered the case. They are now hunting for the bus driver, who absconded after the accident.

    So sad . Just a 4 year innocent baby. Not sure how can a bus come backward instead of moving forward. Might be a slope
