Daijiworld Media Network-Chitradurga (RJP)

Chitradurga, Jun 17: In a bizarre and inhuman ritual, a boy was paraded naked at a drought-hit Pandarahalli village in Chitradurga district to please the rain god.

The incident which happened on June 10 is attracting criticism after the video of the incident went viral.

The video which is being circulated in the social media shows water being poured upon the naked boy. After that the villagers are seen performing pooja to an idol. The boy is then made to carry the idol in the village when the villagers chant prayers amid the sounds of beating of drum. .

The boy is later offered new clothes as per the practice prevalent in the village to appease the rain god to send rains.

Villagers said that an adolescent boy is chosen for this type of rain ritual.

Whatever people do in good faith we must appreciate. God does not look at the externals. He looks at the heart. As long as these people have worshipped God in faith and devotion we need to respect them. There must be some special meaning to what they are doing. Instead of discovering that sense with which they are praying for rains, how could anyone laugh at them? In fact ordinary people have more faith that the sophisticated. Let us learn to respect the ordinary than laugh at their practices

No need to say that BJP is spreading its stone age culture(dont say state is ruled by congress!). I have also heard of a temple in north where 5 naked girls aged below 10 years are worshiped after making them bath in the river in front of whole village and then paraded naked to the village temple!. Is this what is called 'Make in India'!!???

Pleasing rain god as per one's ritual is accepted. We dont know which prayer is answered first. In all the religions there is rain god..viz. Varuna in Hinduism. .St.Michael in Christanity...and Mikhael in Islam. If people do not know how to please the god...than only blame. First of all learn how many people are there in god's abode. If knows this thing correctly.. everything is right.

Water shortage is the negligence and mis rule of our dongies for the last 60 years. They could have diverted the river water to drought hit areas using canals, pipes and reservoirs as well as rain water harvesting.
