Doha: Ravi Shetty unanimously re-elected president of Tulu Koota

Doha, Jun 19: Moodambail Ravi Shetty, who belongs to Doninjeguthu family of Mangaluru, was unanimously re- elected as the president of Tulu Koota Qatar on Friday June 17 during its annual general body meeting (AGM) of the organization held at the Indian Cultural Center (ICC) Doha, Qatar.

The AGM which started at 9 am was chaired by the outgoing president Ravi Shetty . Former ICC president K M Varghese was the returning officer

Ravi Shetty welcomed the gathering and presented a brief report of Tulu Koota activities during the period he was its president. He thanked the executive committee, sponsors, volunteers and all members of the Koota for their tremendous support during his tenure. and requested the gathering to extend the same support to the new committee.

Outgoing general secretary of the Koota, Kiran Anand, presented the minutes of the previous AGM and presented a brief annual report. Outgoing treasurer, Nithesh Doddanagudde, presented the audited financial report which was later approved by the members. The first session came to an end after Ravi Shetty dissolved the existing committee and handed over the stage to the returning officer, K M Varghese, who announced the approved nominations of 11 office-bearers and the only nomination for the post of the president.

Later the new management committee for the year 2014 -2018 was officially declared elected as follows:

The newly-elected president, M Ravi Shetty, delivered introductory address and appealed to all the members to continue to extend support and co-operation to the office bearers of the organization. He assured the members that the new team will give more priority towards charity activities along with other socio-cultural activities.

Ravi Shetty, a well-known philanthropist and founder member of the Kotta has served as vice-president and later as president of Tulu Koota Qatar during 2008-2010,2014 -2016 and also as founder president of Bunts Qatar. He was instrumental in arranging ‘Yakshagana’ for the first time in Qatar during Tulu Koota’s 10th anniversary celebration and also during the Vishwa Kannada Sammelana held in Qatar in the year 2008. He is actively involved with social, charitable and special needs services associated with Tulu Koota Qatar, Bunts Qatar and also back home in India. He has also provided employment opportunities in his company ATS (Advanced Technical Services and Associated Technical Services) to hundreds of Indians, out of which majority are from the coastal belt. He also received Arya bhata Awarad recently at a function held at Bengaluru in recognition of his service to the society.

Vice-president Kiran Anand has served the forum in different capacities in many earlier committees. Asmath Ali too has served Tulu Koota in various capacities including as vice-president and he is also the captain of Tulu Koota cricket team. Overall the new team is a blend of youth and experience with proven track record and the expectations are quite high about achieving greater standards and setting new bench marks.

Executive committee members who have served Tulu Koota Qatar 2014-2016 were honored with mementos for their selfless service.

The event came to an end with vote of thanks by general secretary, Vijay Rai Kumbra. ICC general secretary, and former Tulu Koota president Divakar Poojary compered the entire event.

    First of all let me thank Mr.Alex and Daijiworld for the good coverage of our AGM-2016.
    I also take this opportunity to thank all those who have supported through out our tenure due to which we were successful in all our endeavors in socio -cultural ,sports as well as the more important continuing Environment Awareness Campaign.
    Shall always remain grateful for the selfless support extended by the MC, full committee members, timely advises by the Past Presidents and Sr.Members,support by the Sponsors,our own Media friends,support by all Karnataka based associations in Qatar and ICC,volunteer services by many members,ATS and OHL friends and so on.

    Thank all the members for reposing once again the faith and trust on me to continue as the President for the third term. I am sure that all will provide continued support for the success of all Tulukoota's future endeavors.
