Udupi, Jun 19: While it is common to see worshiping the idols of deities or those who have sacrificed their lives for the country, a man has installed the bust of his late father in front of his house at Katpadi and worships him every day.

The son is 56-year old Indushekar Suvarna, resident of Katpadi Yenagudde. He is the seventh among eight children of late Soorappa and Jayanthi couple. He has been worshiping the bust of his father for the last seven years.

Indushekar has continued the profession acquired by his father and is running a small book shop at Katpadi. His father Soorappa Pandith hailed from Kalathur Garadimane Shirva and was a famous country doctor. He also served as a priest in Brahmabaidarkala Garadi. He died a natural death at the age of 78.

Indushekar's mother Jayanthi died last year. Indushekar celebrates the birth anniversary of his father every year on May 27 and serves meals to poor. He has decided to observe his mother's birth anniversary also on May 27 starting from this year. He said that he also has plans to instal the statue of his mother.

The bust is made out of black stone with a cost of Rs 1, 10,000. He offers water in the mornings and lights lamp in the evening. He says that his parents have taken pain to bring him up and he gets peace of mind when he worships them.

In a unique way, Indushekar gives out a message to today’s generation about respecting parents which seems to have reduced these days. This is a message to those who keep their parents away. This also inspires children to respect their parents.

@zeitgeist , mangalore , Creator is outside time and need to b created . Time only applies in 3 dimensional space where we stay , spiritual entities occupy higher dimensions hence need not to b created . They self exist since eternity

He sees God in his parents. There is nothing wrong in worshiping parents. According to Hindu philosophy God is everywhere and omnipresent. Nobody as seen God and we follow thousand year old books . But the God,the creator is there who is controlling the world. We can feel it by his amazing creation. Follow the path of truth and you can feel the presence of God.

Honour them but dont worship. Worship God alone for he is good. Parents can be good or bad. They are just humans. Parents can be abusive sometimes.

Qualification has nothing to do with this. People like you indulge in blind belief. Your parents may be good. But we have seen the other side of what bad parents can do their innocent children. If you have some free time visit some orphanages and abandoned babies. Read the nees around the world. Once again yes honor them but dont confuse them to be God. No human being is God. Our neighbor drinks and beats his children everyday. So may I ask you should these children worship their father?

It would be much meaningful to respect and love parents when they are alive. Worship is for God alone, not to any creation without exception.

I had a small doubt, do not get offended.
If you say do not worship man made creations, then why do people make an issue when a statue in church is vandalised?? it was just man made thing right? you should not show much concern towards it?

Worshiping a human being is not the right thing to do. We have to worship the creator.....!Human being is a creation. And we should remember our parents and their good deeds and pray for their soul's Moksha..!

    Brother
If you believe in God Almighty dare to ask this question to God
If you are not believing you do not need a reply
The books revealed thru Messengers of God has enough evidence about creation and creatures, full of miracles
But that needs open mind to understand
Almighty God advise us to travel around the globe and see the signs of earlier generations destroyed due to arrogance and ignorance, for example people of Pharauh, People of Noah, people of Luth near dead sea
Evidence of punishment still available if you wish to see on internet and if you wish to visit those place. There are many more evidences available on earth and in universe

Mr Avinash. The meaning of Worship as found in dictionary is this "The feeling or expression of reverence and adoration for a deity"

If the feeling of expression of reverence to a father makes this man happy then there is everything good in it.

even when parents are living people touch their feet showing expression of reverence or thanks giving for all that they have done.
