Mangaluru: Two chain snatchers arrested, items worth Rs 1.75 lac seized

Mangaluru, Jun 20: Urwa police in city on Sunday, June 19, arrested two persons relating to several chain snatching incidents.

Rohith Kumar Bolar (26) and Prajwal Shetty (28) are the persons arrested. Police seized 56 grams of jewellery including 4 gold chains, 1 pendant and two mobile phones from the arrested worth around Rs 1, 70,000.

The police were looking for the chain snatchers in relation to the theft that took place on June 9 at Kodikal in which a woman lost her chain. A case was registered on the same at Urwa police station.

The police arrested these two persons when they were about t leave for Bengaluru from KSRTC bus stand in Bejai. It is learned that Rohith Kumar did the stealing and Prajwal helped in selling the stolen items.

The accused are suspects in several chain snatching cases that took place at Urwa, Warehouse, Mannagudde and other places.

    Good job Urwa Police! Lack Of severe punishment is the main reason for the rise of chain snatching incidents in Mangaluru these days. Severe punishment and invoking PD act against the accused may prevent such criminal activities. Also the main reason behind chain snatching is that they can gain a booty at one go. Henceforth these guys should be treated royally by police! So that …….. !!
