Udupi, Jun 20: Loyal D' Souza from Pamboor parish in Shirva zone, has been unanimously elected as Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) president Udupi diocese for the year 2016-17.

Loyal was elected in the annual meeting and election of new office bearers held in Don Bosco hall at the Mother of sorrows church here.Fr Reginald Pinto, director of Udupi diocese social service commission conducted the election as Election officer.

The following were elected as office bearers : 

Vice president- male Arthur Dais Byndoor, Vice president- female Esline Lavina D' Souza Hirgana, secretary Felina D' Souza Moodubelle, PRO Onil Keith Andrade Kalmadi, Treasurer Don D' Souza Perampalli, diocese representative Jaston Fernandes Kallianpur Milagres, Velilda Mendonca Miyar, appointed members Ranson Rolphy Serrao Mundkooru and Lavita Joyce Cutinho. Zonal presidents are Royceton D' Souza Kallianpur, Vinel Delson D' Souza Udupi, Flexon D' Silva Karkal, Joyson D' Sa Shirva and Lavita Pinto Kundapur.

Organization director Fr Edwin D' Souza administered oath to the new office bearers.

Chief Guest, Udupi diocese Catholic education society secretary Fr Lawrence D' Souza speaking on the occasion said that youth should not hesitate to showcase their talents but make the most of opportunities available to them. "Society needs natural and excellent leaders and the youth in Catholic community should be selfless leaders with great qualities," he said.

Young Village Accountant Pavithra Menezes was felicitated on the occasion. Walter D' Souza, Sr Lucy and other office bearers were present. Former president Derrick Mascarenhas welcomed. Vivina Saldanha read annual report. Newly elected president Loyel D' Souza proposed Vote of thanks. Oliver compered the programme.
