Rajdhani Jewellers shootout case - Police nab prime accused

Mangaluru, Jun 21: The Puttur town police have arrested the prime accused in the Puttur Rajdhani Jewellers shoo out case from Ukkuda near Vittal on Tuesday, June 21, informed superintendent of police (SP) of Dakshina Kannada, Bhushan Gulabrao Borase at his office.

“The arrested person is Mohammed Hanif (34) son of Hasainar and a resident of Dera House in Paivalike village in Manjeshwar taluk. The police have confiscated a pistol used in the act. Hanif alias Ali alias Munna had opened fire targeting Rajdhani Jewellers on October 6, 2015. Hanif is wanted in seven various cases in Karnataka and Kerala including fake currency case registered in Bengaluru airport police station, Kasargod Bevinje Shootout and Talapady shootout cases," SP said.

"The main conspirator of the case underworld element Kali Yogish is absconding in the foreign country along with Rameez Raza and Paiya alias Fayaaz who are believed to be residing in Dubai and Sharjah and a special team has been already formed for their arrest." he added.

"As per the arrested, the shootout was planned to demand hafta after creating fear. Another accused Khalia Rafiq who is in Thrissur Jail under the Goonda act has been questioned and arrest of the three accused Kali Yogish, Rameez Raza and Paiya alias Fayaaz is pending. The police have confiscated two country pistols, a car and a motorcycle from the accused so far," he explained.

"Appreciating the efforts of the team led by assistant sub inspector Abdul Khader and the team, the higher officials have announced a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and have appreciated the work." SP said.

Assistant superintendent of police of Puttur sub division Rishyanth, Puttur town inspector Mahesh Prasad, assistant sub inspector Abdul Khader were present at the occasion.
