Bengaluru, Jun 22: The current bout of revolt and rebellion in the State ruling Congress party over the recent revamp of the Siddaramaiah cabinet will be resolved soon, said Dinesh Gundu Rao, the newly appointed Working President of KPCC in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

Rao, who was among the 14 ministers to be dropped from the Siddaramaiah cabinet in Sunday’s cabinet recast and appointed as KPCC Working President on the following day, expressed confidence that the revolt and rebellion by some of the senior leaders would be resolved soon.

"Everything will be under control. All legislators who have expressed dissenting voices on the Cabinet reshuffle will come around in a few days,’’ Rao said.

The new KPCC Working President came to the Congress Bhavan on Queen’s Road in an open jeep and was lustily cheered by party workers.

Addressing his maiden press meet after taking charge as the KPCC Working President, four-time MLA and former Food and Civil Supplies Minister said some MLAs have been very emotional in expressing their distress and unhappiness.
"`As all of us disciplined soldiers of the party, the interest of the party and the government are more important,’’ he said.

However, he felt it was quite natural that the disappointed persons may have given vent to their feelings and resorted to emotional outburst. But they would not leave the party, he said.

"I don’t see the situation going out of hand,” he said answering a specific question.

Senior leaders such as V Srinivas Prasad, M H Ambareesh, Qamarul Islam, BaburaoChinchansur and a few city legislators have expressed their displeasure over the Cabinet reshuffle and decided to petition the party high command against the Chief Minster Siddaramaiah.

Rao explained that he will take up his assignment seriously and start meeting the party workers and leaders at different levels.

“I am not a puppet working president. I have to work and galvanise the party workers as elections are just two years away,’’ he said and promised to do his best to revitalise the party at all levels.

"We need to streamline and strengthen the Congress organisation taking all leaders and workers into confidence. With the next assembly elections due in 2018, we have to gear up to face the coming electoral battle right now,’’ he said.

He called on AICC president Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi on Tuesday and explained to her political developments in the State.
