By seeing all those comments from qualified professors. These intellectuals loose their basic manners which they studied in primary schools.

Punishment should be given by admitting them in first standard

Same thing what this Professor said was told publicly many times by Ram Jethmalani, Karunanidi and so many Hindu men before. However what he said about Smriti, that she is a 3rd rated actress and she does not deserve the ministry is the main reason, according to many papers. She was even annoyed by Bihar education minister who is a Ph.D, who started the salutation with the word dear. I have a letter addressed to my wife by British embassy wherein they have written "dear" before the given name & surname, and later "Dear" just before given name. That education minister said he does not feel anything wrong, but this Yale graduate felt otherwise.

Its no wonder that majority of people are not bothered about free speech and freedom of expression. this is because we have a slave mentality like bowing down before the masters obey what they say and dont question anything.

Gods are either greater than humans or are equal to humans.

If they are equal to humans, they will get insulted. They will be angry. So we must avoid insulting Gods who are equal to humans.

But if they are greater than humans, possibly they are above human emotions. In which case they will not get angry, will neither love us nor hate us. They will be sitting somewhere like the Easter Island statues.

We need to first try to find them and then ask them the right questions. My attempts to find them have miserably failed.

Although I am not an atheist, I agree with your views. It is we who worshipers who feel offended. Therefore it hurts our sentiments if any one uses derogatory remarks against our beliefs. Did this man use derogatory language? if he did what proof do they have in terms of footage?

What is the quantum of punishment? Do we follow the Pakistan model ( lynch him)? Do we follow the forgive him model? What would God almighty want us - religion cannot be without forgiveness.

What I am against is not punishment but against excessive unjustifiable anger and aggression towards the alleged perpetrator. If the refresher course issue was limited within those four walls- I do not think " Hurting the sentiments" of community would have taken place.

THEREFORE I WOULD ALSO APPLY THE PUNISHMENT( MORE SEVERE) TO THOSE WHO SPREAD THE NEWS AS THEY, IN MY OPINION DID THE REAL DAMAGE AND CAUSE THE HURTING OF THE SENTIMENTS OF LOTS OF PEOPLE( INCLUDING THE READERS HERE).

The thing i really cant get about theists is that they claim to believe the all powerful being who can protect them from any harm the universe has to offer, but the very same being requires protection from some pesky humans.

it is becoz 'when the so called all powerful brings rain down, it just does comes on all, without showing partiality good or bad one thereby allowing to happen what happens' but if humans wills they can stop doing bad things.
Respect to each other must prevail with the freedom not to insult any.

People resort different ways to get publicity.
Some like UR anathamuthri said he peed on Hindu God's idols!
Some models voluntarily allow a wardrobe malfunction.
Some run naked on soccer fields.

All the above should be treated with human concern and provided with medical care at NIMHANS!

Is the evidence documented? Allegations alone does not prove he is guilty. One cannot be judged alone based on allegations. Political, business and religious opponents are eliminated in Pakistan using the blasphemy law. Mullahs calls resulted in people getting butchered in a marriage party. We need to be cautious before joining the band wagon of making him guilty of insulting the Lord Rama.

As far as political leaders are concerned, he may be within his rights to comment as he is a Journalism Professor. What goes within the Universities as educational free thought should not be needlessly politicized.

I do not think that Professors are stupid. I cannot pass a judgement on some one based on some reports.

I do know for sure that Barkha et al are not stupid and I find logic in their debates. If you are illogical( jumping to conclusions) then you may not like the likes of Ms Dutt.

I do feel we are over reacting to academic discourse. Education and that too quality education is imparted in Universities like Mysore.
