Puttur: Two bike thieves held - two-wheeler seized

Puttur, Jun 24: The local police arrested two persons and recovered from them a motor bike that they had stolen during January. When the accused thieves were apprehended on Thursday June 23 morning, they were reportedly taking the stolen vehicle for sale to Kasargod.

When policemen were patrolling the area, the accused who came in the motor bike saw them near Jain Bhavan Road and tried to flee. Their action gave rise to suspicion in the minds of people, who sought to see records. The riders then confessed to the theft. During the questioning, they reportedly said they were unable to sell the bike in spite of repeated attempts so far.

The arrested accused are Prasad from Samethadka in the town and Karthik from Padil. In the recent past, there have been a number of two-wheeler thefts, and two gangs of thieves had been arrested recently.

A motor bike belonging to Hariprasad Shetty from Padnur village was stolen on January 10 this year when he had parked it near Kunjaru temple. He had filed complaint about this theft in the town police station here.
