Mangaluru, Jun 24: Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) from Pakkaladka-Bajal and Jalligudde staged a unique protest of fishing in the stagnant water at the railway underpass at Bajal on Friday,
June 24.

The water has remained there due to the bad quality of work and delay.

Addressing the gathered people, the district secretary of DYFI, Sunil Kumar Bajal alleged that the Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) and state government with the railway department are delaying the work with the motive of making money for the new connecting road project which is yet to be made.

"The people of this area have submitted several petitions to many people's representatives and the officials for the completion of the work which have fallen on the deaf ears. If the people's representatives are questioned, they show the fingers at officials. Two major parties BJP and Congress have been doing the blame game politics. MP, MLC and all the people's representatives have visited the place but there is no progress,” Sunil Kumar Bajal added.

"Mayor Harinath says that the problem will be resolved in four days while the planner of the connecting road has said that it is not possible in four days. It seems like there is no co-ordination between the officials and the people's representatives. They have now come up with a new theory that the work has been delayed due to underground spring. If the huge bridge can be built on river Nethravati, why cannot this work be done? May be they need a fresh road project to take the share of money," he alleged.

"If the connecting work of Faisalnagar and Vijayanagara is not completed at the earliest, we will picket the MCC office." he warned.

GOOD ONE: but look at the protesting people, not more than 15 !!seriously? will this number enough to wakeup our world record holder officers in laziness & corruption huh dream on.
PLACES affected by this impractical construction have population almost 20000! yet only 15 youth came forward to protest!where are others? this reflects our peoples attitude,we all want comforts but none of us ready to get hands dirty.if someone's fighting for social cause we dont even go out & support.our own great fighter RTI activist gunned down by dongi deshbhakts yet we are not ready to accept that truth.& parties/officers exploit this mentality very well.
UNLESS people of this city show unity, shedding their communal & ghetto mentality nothing'NOTHING' will ever going to change for the benefit of public.
AT LEAST for the problems affecting all, people should forget their sangha/sena/dala /party/caste/religion affiliation & prove that they are mangalorean 1st.

Pathetic...This is a shame to MCC officers and elected members..
May be they need general public only to pay taxes so their salaries paid and vote in waiting long que so that you gain power. and this is the service you claim...Best example of lack of professionalism. May God give wisdom to the engineer did design and engineering.

Only the local people staying there can understand the pain and struggle taken daily to reach work/school or to reach back home at night.
From 2 years there is no bus nor any other modes of transport. We cannot use this road better than this was the railway gates problem. If we have to catch a bus we have to walk more than a mile from our homes.Just being 10 km so away from the city the buses take 40 min to 1 hour to reach our destination or vice versa. We can only curse our own fates for this no one is taking any actions.

There's difference : In Columbia buses are designed to negotiate water streams. In Padil railway underpass is designed to challenge the amphibian capability of the buses!

The inauguration of the under pass was stared with big funfair by then Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda and other BJP leaders.
Where are these leaders now? It is a clear example of Achhe Din.
    Total failure of plan
The only solution seems to be pumping during the rainy season
MCC is failed Utterly, local Corporators not to be seen now.
It is better to close use less down MCC

Its simply a lack of Engineering skill or a will to fix the issue .
The area they should have been done with a flyover then underpass little more cost but not much headache .

BUT SOME ONE WANT TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF ALL THESE.

What a petty. These are really pathetic scenes. Few days ago Lobam was talking about making Mangaluru city a green city. These three stooges (Lobam, Souzam and Raithere) are useless. Talking big and delivering less. Where are they now? Why can’t they handle this situation and sort out the problems to avoid troubles for locals?
Accumulation of water is also due to lack of engineering skills, design as well as missing dewatering system in place. Act against the contractor and supervising team.
