Daijiworld Media Network - Kalaburagi (SP)

Kalaburagi, Jun 25: The local police have taken into custody three Kerala-based students of Al Qamar Nursing College here late night on Friday June 24. These three senior students of the nursing college reportedly had forcibly put phenyl down the throat of a junior nursing student staying at the hostel, identified as Ashwithi.

The arrested students have been identified as Laxmi, Athira, and Krishnapriya. They were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody, said district superintendent of police, N Shashikumar. In this case, both the victim and the three students accused of ragging her, hail from Kerala.

As per the complaint filed in Kozhikode Medical College police station in Kerala, the seniors named above were accused of ragging their junior, Ashwithi, and forcefully putting toilet cleaner into her digestion system. The student is being treated at Kozhikode now. The case was thereafter transferred to Roja police station in the town on Thursday. The college authorities had initially termed ragging allegation as false.

A team led by deputy superintendent of police, Jahnavi, which had been entrusted with the task of investigation, took three persons into custody and questioned them. As it was found during the questioning that wrongs had been committed, they were arrested. Shashikumar said that the first information report contains five names. However, as the name of one of the students was repeated, four have been accused. The remaining student would be arrested soon, he added.

The investigating team had met and questioned various people including college governing council, students, doctors who treated the girl when she was here, and staff of the hostel and college all through Friday.

These students lacks moral science, love and harmony to their fellow students.Anyone before taking any professional course/s students should attend Youth retreat where they will taught how to love and help others. Many rogs, rowdys, gangstars, drunkeds, given up their bad habits and turned to a good citizens. Most recommended is Divine Retreat Centre in Pota, Kerala state. Once they attend this retreat there is 360 degree changes in once life style.Thousands have given their live witnesses/testimony in front of congregation. Later they can continue their own faith. God never see which religion you belongs to or practicing but he will ask whether you follow your religion faithfully.

I fully agree with you Mr. Felix. Miracles does takes place at Divine Retreat Center, Pota. Doesn't matter which religion you belong to. Have faith and visit this divine place and certainly your life will change. My cousin was a alcoholic and his family was so tired of his menace, they were praying for his death. The alcoholic himself was fed up of his life. Somehow he stole Beedi rolling money of his wife, traveled to Pota. While praying he felt a slap on his cheek. He is totally free from alcohol for the last 27 years. No medicine, no counseling, no de-addiction centers. Jesus is alive. Trust in Him and you will be free from devil's clutches. Praise be the name of Jesus.

In any college, the Senior Students ragging to the extent of taking a junior student's life or ragging to the extent of the junior students committing suicide from the shame\trauma caused by such inhuman ragging should be punishable by death or forever imprisonment to the raggers as they have taken away a human life directly or indirectly or disabled a person for life.

I do not see any sense in this act of ragging by the seniors. They have come to the end of their study course and during that time they involve, get arrested for this silly dangerous activity and lose everything..!!
May be when they get high all this happens...? To pour phenyl down the throat of that girl, they may have been "floating" and not only "high".
As Nursing students, they definitely know the damage it causes to the insides of human body and even death...

They should be suspended from the college as they are unfit to be nurses profession where compassion is important. Nobody should be allowed to play with others lives.

    Dear Henry
    this is irrelevant question.

I feel sad for the first year victim student. Really appreciate the police personnel, for their prompt action by arresting 3 senior students and producing them to the court.
police also should find out, are these girls were under the influence of alcohol or substance.

Hope this is an eye opening to all students, not to play at the lives of junior students.
