Mangaluru, Jun 26: A runaway car hit a couple on highway 66 opposite Bappanadu Goddess Durgaparameshwari temple, Bappanadu, Mulky, on the night of Friday June 24. In spite of best efforts, the car remains untraced, police sources revealed.

Chittaranjan had accompanied his wife to Bappanadu temple and was waiting for a bus to undertake return journey home with wife, when a car going towards the city hit the lady and sped away without caring to stop.

Due to the impact of the accident, the woman had been tossed away. As she suffered serious head injuries, she died on the spot. Chittaranjan too was injured in this accident, but the driver of the car moved ahead without caring to stop the vehicle. The police checked CCTV footage of the tollgate at Suratkal, but did not get any clue. As such, they now suspect that the car would have taken Karnad-Kinnigoli route.

Jyothi is survived by husband, two daughters and a son, who is employed in the Gulf.

Why no breakthrough despite her husband being a retired police officer? If this is a murder mystery (speculate it) and takes so long to unravel, with so much of influence and contacts, imagine how long it would take to unravel the mystery of an ordinary persons death

Accident was in Mulki and they are checking CCTV footage in Surathkal toll gate. Question comes is purpose of CCtv Camera only to serve toll gate? Govt needs to install more Cameras along the highway. At least at every road deviations along the highway.

Mr. Dev did you notice in Mulki that there is no chance to cross the road two existing bridge 4 lanes no speed limit no chance to cross no over bridge to help children or any human to cross the road and go to market or school only given a chance to heavy vehicle to run at a very speed. no proper infrastructure to utilize money instead to more land acquisition to help seeding why not divert the speedy vehicle in different direction not to pass from town and schools we can't shift the school, temple whole town. Instead of that shift the heavy vehicle movements to a new road only H.Vehicles who speed and cause injuries and inconvenience to all human.

Did they stopped middle of road to catch the bus. As it's highway all vehicles plying in speed. Even there is not much problem to reach the destination as more of buses plying for a second. Where went wrong.,..still not comes to know.
May be they left a bus which is jammed..and while returning to bus stop..may hit by the speeding car.
